She nodded at him. He should've, because that would have been something good to know. She couldn't bear to lose him again, despite how inevitable it was. This world could end tomorrow, or it could last for decades, but while she breathed air she wanted him to be alive and safe. Or as much as he could be.
When he kissed her she sighed softly, content with the gesture. He had come to mean a great deal to her too. And she couldn't recall the last time she had cried for someone, besides Marni when she had passed. Mag had believed for a long time, too, that Shilo had died with her mother. She had been proven wrong, but it had still hurt. Marni's death had been seventeen years ago. Mag had held out that long, up until now.
"As long as you aren't out being some kind of heroic death magnet I can forgive you. I won't stop worrying about you, but I do want you to go out fighting knowing someone cares deeply for you. Perhaps that will give you extra incentive to come back safe and alive."
