When Murphy grabbed Harry and pulled him in, Evey turned away and ducked her head to hide the smile. It was good to see. Her fingers found the furred ear of the giant dog Harry claimed, and she rubbed absently, while considering what to tell Harry. When he was ready to go, Evey lifted her head and nodded to both Murphy and the other all at once. She already knew Harry was used to running, so that's what she did -- but kept herself close under his protection. Peter would kill her if she died.
"Peter and I are sharing each other's minds," Evey said, fully aware of how daft it sounded. "He sees through Leeloo -- I see through him." That wasn't exactly it, she knew, but it was close enough to get the meaning across. "That's how I knew. He showed me."
It really did sound mental. Evey glanced up at Harry as they got to the mouth of the street they were going to clear. "We're a team," she said, and if she sounded a little defensive, she tried to dispel it with a half-smile and a shrug. "You take the left side, I'll grab the right? Oh, give me Mouse. You're intimidating enough on your own, but people will listen better to a girl with a large dog at her side."
