Carlos gave Mag a nod and a lopsided smile before he went to work. Contrary to popular belief, true magic wasn't about shouting nonsense words and smoke and loud bangs. Carlos remained mostly silent as he worked, save for a few words mumbled under his breath. There was a green light that danced around his hands and up and down the door frame as he wove the protection spell over her entrance.
An hour or so later, the spell was done and Carlos was drained. He turned to Mag with a triumphant smile. The green magic had faded and now the doorway looked just as it always had.
"That should hold for awhile. Dawn always erodes magic just a bit, bit so I'll have to renew the wards in a couple of months, but for now you're safe."
