It was human nature to slip up, which is why Mag had posed the question in the first place. What if it happened? Because it was bound to at some point. That fell along the same lines as taking in a stray dog. She didn't know what the history of the dog was, nor if it even truly was a dog though Mag had no reason to believe the dog was more than it seemed. She couldn't let anything starve, be cold or be without shelter. It just wasn't in her.
She would try to refrain from helping as she used to, now that her impression of the world was a little more dark and sinister. Perhaps she would get used to looking over her shoulder but she supposed that came with the territory. Carlos knew. He knew and he knew how to help her be safe. It was all they could really do, but that didn't mean she had to like it right away.
She leaned into Carlos's embrace, mind trying to process that phrase. Depends on the creature. How many creatures of ill intent were there in this world? How many were that powerful?
"I know this isn't an easy subject to talk about. Most people probably don't want to hear about the terrible things in their world. It seems here, though, you can't escape it and I suppose that any knowledge is better than none."
Mag looked up at Carlos, her eyes swirling blue for a moment. "Thank you for working with me. Being patient and willing to help protect me." It wasn't much, she knew, but it was all she could say. She was thankful he had taken the interest in helping her at all.
