Her eyes watched the bag as Carlos began to remove the items from within, curious as to how those things worked and how the ward itself would keep others out. She wasn't from a world where magic existed. Her world was based a great deal on science and magic was simply something that could be imitated on the stage. Illusions for the paying audience.
Honestly, the wards both scared and relieved her at the same time. The fear stemmed from the unknown. She wasn't familiar with it and so she feared it a little. It brought relief because she wood feel safer knowing that not everything could cross the threshold and harm her.
When Carlos paused to look up at her, she lifted her own gaze and found his. "Safer? Not to extend verbal invitations? I will certainly try." She sighed softly, closing her eyes as her brain tried to process all of this new information.
What could be that terrible out there that such things were needed? She thrived on making this place as human as possible and not even being able to welcome someone in need into her apartment for assistance....it made sense but she didn't care very much for it.
Opening her eyes, Mag nodded and then pushed any negative thoughts or feelings from her mind. She offered Carlos a small smile, "If you think that is safest, then that's what I'll do." No questions asked. She definitely didn't want him worrying about her as much. She knew he had some role to play in all of this and he didn't need her distracting him when the time came.
