Xigbar tried to ignore the gunk it spewed over them. Battle now, whining about icky, gunk-covered hair later. Twirling his guns, he hooked them together to create his rifle, charging the shots as he fired them on the plant-like core of the beast. His charged shots were doing a lot more damage than the volley of light ones had, and that combined with Axel's constant stream of flame was making the thing screech louder and louder. Eventually it stopped screeching and horking up stuff over them, concentrating on its own defence though it was a little bit too late for that.
