Ivy stared sadly at the beautifully lit Christmas tableau in the mall store window. She was numb. She was always numb around the holidays. It was torture on her heart. Trees everywhere lying brutalized with gaudy bits of bobbles hanging askew. They would weep but starved and desiccated they had no tears to give. She'd help them though this year. Starting with the freshly dead wreath in the window of this tacky department store. God she could make it live again... Sending out little tingles of life to the wreath Ivy watched happily as it spread and grew, beginning to cover the window. She watched as a leafy vine crawled up towards the security system, thrilling at the sensations she felt from her leady sisters. They were curious little devils, tearing at the wiring in intricate ways too delicate for human fingers. Oh the damage they could cause; nimble leaves and supple vines. It was such rapture from a dead display, seeing it pulse with raw power again!
"What's that my lovely?" She cocked her head towards the tendrils covering the window and stressing it to the cracking point. Little spiderweb cracks were spreading through the glass but that wasn't what she was hearing... They were telling her stories of guards coming. The security system was better than expected. The police hadn't been called yet but it had notified the internal security forces and they were coming en-masse. Yum... So much energy at hand for her little friends. Whispering and hissing her instructions Ivy sent out feelers to find any vegetation hiding around in this horrid place. She would take it a day at a time and a store at a time but her plants needed food and there was a bunch of fertilizer on legs running her way. Maybe there'd even be a yummy bat.
