Strangely enough the Empath didn’t want Kelsey to talk, simply listen and understand where she was coming from. The slayer had communication issues and clearly so did Emma. It had all been so much easier when she could feel what her lover couldn’t explain but regaining that trust was something she had to earn. How she didn’t know. And until then their only solution was in fact talking. That’s what it all boiled down to, didn’t it? The barely audible reply left a sinking in her stomach as she whispered, “I don’t expect you to. We both have our share of communication difficulties. I’m trying to let you know what it’s like from over here. The only thing I’m after is one promise. Tell me when I’m being stupid or upsetting you, ok?” Blue eyes attempted to catch the slayer’s, voice serious but not demanding. She didn’t know how this would work out but at least she could prevent some potential damage by shutting her mouth.
A question followed and with a glance at the menu again she replied dejectedly, “sure.” She was trying, they both were in their own ways but she found herself increasingly fearful of their future after recent events at the hotel. There was so much pain but at least healing was also present. It had to be a good sign, right? If only she could believe that.
