You didn’t need abilities to tell the auto-response was bullshit and it was all her doing. “Look,” she began, swallowing hard. “I’m sorry for the way I’ve been acting. It’s in no way your fault, I promise.” She wouldn’t get in to anything more until she had enough of it sorted out in her mind, stalling for time as she picked through the menu halfheartedly. She didn’t have much of an appetite lately but her stomach was raising hell out of necessity. If she didn’t put something into her system she’d pass out before the night even got started. Staring through the laminated pages a sigh left her lips. “I’ll um, I’ll explain more once we get our food if that’s ok. I just. . .don’t want to. . .ruin dinner.” It was the first time she’d let herself speak without full censorship in place and maybe it was a step in the right direction. If she could be honest with Kel and lay it all out on the line, perhaps something would change. She wanted back what they had, even if it would never quite be the same.
