Kelsey seemed surprised at the question and she wondered if that wasn’t part of the problem. Did Kel think she didn’t care? Not that she could blame her for feeling that way if it were so. Emma hadn’t shared much lately, too choked with fear to spit out what she needed to and so self involved maybe the slayer felt there was no room left for her. Before she could travel down that road it was her turn to be surprised. Blue eyes shifted for only a second to glance at the brunette before returning to the road and a smile found its way to her lips. “Honestly? Stressed sounds about right. There’s um. . there’s been a lot going on,” she replied nonchalantly, gliding into another turn before starting to count avenues. “I’m sorry I uh, I haven’t said much but um. . .I didn’t want to run you down with stuff, y’know?” That was partially true but she wasn’t going to outright admit she was afraid of Kel’s reaction to the demon thing. That would be getting into territory she didn’t want to right this minute. Her tone softened as they reached another stoplight, a hand slipping from the wheel to rest atop Kel’s briefly, “and. . .thank you for asking.” With the change in color she saw out of the corner of her eye the redhead returned to driving mode, though the hand lingered where it was until the last possible second. The heat of her lovers skin and its comfort brought such mixed emotions and she swallowed them down, hoping the slayer would look right past this moment of weakness.
