“I don’t think they would. Be uncomfortable, sure, maybe a little. But I can’t imagine them just turning their backs. They care about us. . .all of us, including you. Just because we view things differently doesn’t mean we can’t get along,” the Empath insisted with a slight frown. She didn’t know anyone personally but she could read their general intentions and hard as she tried, she couldn’t imagine things the way Kel was making them out to be. The mention of Kel’s father stirred a rage within her, one fist tightening until the younger woman was finished speaking. “I’m sorry if this is out of line but your dad isn’t here Kel. You can’t hide behind him so you don’t have to put forth the effort to make friends. Everyone I’ve met here isn’t out to screw anyone. We’re all lost in our own ways, each searching for something we may never find. I’m not saying you have to bare your soul to everyone, just. . .talk to them and try not to bite their heads off. You’d be surprised with the results. Better to have some allies then none at all, right?” Her tone softened toward the end of her statements, the first couple lines slightly annoyed.
Smoothing her free hand over Kelsey’s hair, she sighed deeply. “I don’t mean to be harsh Kel or-or demanding. I know you’ll forgive me and you know I’ll always do the same. But it’s healthy to have more people to talk to than just me. You could really benefit some of the people around here as much as their perspectives and knowledge could help you. I’d like to think we’re always learning, both from others and the things life throws at us. You might need a friend someday and. . .I guess I just want you to have options. Do you get it at all?” Having Kai in her life now made her feel. . .guilty? If she ever needed somebody to talk to, the younger redhead was there and it was surprisingly easy communicating with her. She seemed to. . .understand? The Empath wanted the same for her girlfriend but the first step was getting her comfortable with the idea. Maybe it would work.
