Today's book recommendation is Nineteen Eighty-Four by George Orwell. I know muggle books aren't quite the thing, but I think it's fitting for today. Pick up a copy and you'll see why.

[Private to Press and PR Agents]

I know that I'm not exactly everyone's favourite person at the moment, but I think that we should have a sit down and discuss how we're handling this. I, personally, feel that this isn't something we should feed into. Even if that means a media embargo on the subject.
Random searches are one thing, but this feels like a first step into something much bigger and much more difficult to control. It might be a good idea to show that we aren't supportive of the Ministry getting in bed with the BIL, through our silence on the matter.

I agree. It would be helpful to know everyone's thoughts before it starts to get even murkier.

The more of a unified image we can show, the better.

I agree. I don't think picking fights is going to help us.

I haven't read it, but isn't that the super depressing one with the guy and little boy? What makes that one your favourite?

No, it's an exploration of the living conditions of the poor in northern England and class division in the 1930s.

Not everything has to be uplifting to be informative.

No, although I'm still not sure why you need to be well informed on how things were in the 1930s for poor muggles in Northern England.

Class division spans time and the magical-muggle divide.

I agree that sitting down and discussing it together would be a good idea, but I don't feel that silence is necessarily the best option.

Perhaps several of us should meet, somewhere away from the public eye, and discuss what options we have.

I agree. We need to set up a time and a place to meet. Like I told Matty, we have to show a united front with this.

I'm thinking something along the lines of an open letter with all of those willing to sign might work. Publish it across all our respective media simultaneously or something... vague idea right now though. I'll let it simmer.

My place is pretty secure and out of the way if nowhere else comes up. I'm not convinced holding this one in public is a great idea.

I agree that a public place is a bad idea. We need to know how many to expect before we nail down the location, though.

Sure, but it's good to get some initial plans going for the curious and unsure. We can always adapt if need be.

Yes, it is. Something else that is great is that the Ministry has also moved away from the times that were seen as questionable. We are past Cornelius Fudge, Ms. MacAvoy.

Of course you are, because you have some very clever people working for you that realised the only way the Ministry would be able to survive Mr. Fudge's mistakes was if you changed with the time.

Despite my last name, I was never involved in the many oversights of many people who had less than great intentions. Those times are past us, for the best.

It's such a good thing that we're able to look past things like names or blood status in this brave new world. I guess that's just another thing that we have to thank Harry Potter for, wouldn't you say, Mr. Travers?

Ms. MacAvoy, I fail to see how Harry Potter is involved in this current situation.

I think it's fair to say if not for him and his, Cornelius Fudge would still be in power, along with others best not mentioned. As you mentioned how great it was that the Ministry has moved away from his time, I would have thought that you'd be pleased with all Harry has done.

Well, that's nice. Perhaps Harry Potter can save the players from this conundrum, since everyone seems to think there's a need to be dramatic.

Silence on the matter isn't going to get us anywhere, Eddie is right. And though I'm loathe to even give you the time of day currently I do think we need to address this. The players and the union are not likely to take this kind of treatment quietly and if you're right that this is the start of something, then it's only a matter of time before we this explodes in everyone's faces.

We need to send a clear message to the BIL and the Ministry that we're not going to let our players be scapegoats. I am all for banning substances and holding guilty parties accountable, but innocent players should not be made to feel like criminals.

Obviously that's not our job on the journalism side of things, but it's our job to shine a light on the procedures being carried out by those who run the game. This smacks of something completely fishy that we'll need to stand together for.

We have more power if we stand united, on both sides of the media divide. Maybe we need a union of our own.
