You know it's a very filling kind of party when your dog tries to fall asleep under the hotdog table.

It was a marvellous day, Pip. Merci beaucoup for the invitation!

I bet he was in heaven. That's got to be the best place he could have found himself.

A hot dog amongst the hotdogs.

He was very good and didn't even steal any! I was a proud dog maman.

That is shocking! Was he being supplied with treats from the other party attendees? Or is your training that good? Because if it's the latter I have a doc that needs your assistance.

He did give puppy eyes occasionally, but only occasionally. People are scared of him because he is so big, but nobody is perfect.

He seems sweet, and it looks like the other dogs could learn a lot from him.

But of course! Newfoundlands are big softies. Like teddy bears.

Sometimes I toy with the idea of getting a dog, but they just seem like so much effort. It's like a baby, and I know I'm not ready for that.

I had help in training him, but honestly, while I am single he is good company. And he likes cuddles.

Does he sleep in the bed with you? He must take up most of the space!

Mon dieu, no. I am tall myself, I need the space for me!

That's true. I didn't think of that.

When you are just shy of 6'2 in bare feet, the dog has to live with it.

I've always wondered. How nice is it being able to reach everything? I have issues with that, and I figure it must be so nice.

Reaching things is nice, but then you also get boring jokes.

Honestly the only thing people have to worry about Newfies is if they're trying to swim and getting fished out against their will.

I like to think of them sharing exasperated looks at the antics of their humans.

I didn't say I didn't! Just pointing out that it happened in the first place.

Used to it doesn't mean there aren't exasperated looks.
