Warded to Marlene
I am giving you as much notice as I can, but I just received a heads up that I will be mentioned in an upcoming Witch Weekly article. (No, I did not answer any questions or offer any comment.) Apparently Meaghan McCormack's daughter, Ember, claimed that her father was "very tall, not British, and a Beater." Which narrows down the field considerably.

Meaghan and I had a small fling years ago, but it didn't last long and she would have told me, wouldn't she?

Anyway, what do you need from me?

What?!

For feck's sake, things have barely calmed down from last week.

Alright. Well. They don't have you as the father, and you've done the exact right thing coming to me first.

I'm paat trusting anyone to have told you blokes anything before the papers get ahold of it.

Any chance you can talk to Meaghan? Any chance you can do it in a way that doesn't draw attention to either of you? Any chance you can get a signed statement that you're not

If you can't or don't want to talk to her yourself, do you object to me approaching her about it?

I invited her to the barbecue tomorrow, but then again I invited more than half the league. Others too. I could talk to her there. It wouldn't be odd for a host of the party to talk to all of his guests.

I don't object to you approaching her, but I should probably talk to her first. It's only polite.

That's probably your best bet. Right. God.

I'm going to take the longest bloody vacation away from this nonsense.

I'll try and keep this as low profile as possible. Likely this will all blow over. These things happen all the time.

Would you prefer ice cream or cake? Or a spa basket? My sisters-in-law always appreciate spa baskets.

Yes. They've been trying to figure out thay poor girl's father since Meaghan was benched with a baby bump. I'm sure they're still as far off base as ever.

Red wine is more my fancy, if you must know.

I know, which is why I wish they'd just leave her and her baby alone.

I know, but I don't drink. So I was offering alternatives.

The more attention we give it, the more they'll bother with it. I think ignoring it all together will drive home the point that it is a non-story. Eventually they'll have to give up.

In the unlikely event that you are

Thanks for that. I'll be alright though.
