Bethany Dunstan wants your love. (seducteur) wrote in quiddproquo, |
"But," she continued for him when he looked down. She was fighting a small smile that wanted to creep across her face. Sean was already devoted to this cause, and she liked seeing him so passionate. There was no doubt in her mind that he would see this through to the end, and she would do everything in her power to help him reach the results he wanted. "We're getting to the point of permanence." She quickly made a few notes. "You said it yourself: your ribs healed fine, but your neck is still giving you trouble. Magic can only fix so much. There will come a time when something can't be he..."
Bethany stopped. Her hand was still on the page, and she forgot to breathe for a few moments. Her face was blank, but a world of emotions was warring in her mind. She licked her lips and breathed slowly. "Quidditch hasn't led to a fatal injury," she continued, writing as she spoke, "in centuries. If the current trend remains unchecked, we very well could have another one for the record books."
Letting her pen fall, Bethany dropped her hands to her sides and clenched the seat tightly. Having watched and heard about Sean's and Colin's injuries had made her a wreak. Putting things into this perspective down right terrified her, and her hands shook to prove it. "You'll have to proofread this before sending it, Seany. My language might become too strong and personal."
Bethany caught her lower lip between her teeth as she tried to regain her composure. She needed to approach this professionally, take the personal out of the equation entirely. Slowly, her heart pounding in her ears, she took up her pen. "I need a list of injured and injuries," she said, her voice quavering slightly despite her resolve. She made two columns on a fresh sheet, "Also, a list of anyone still having problems." She wrote Sean's name at the top of the first column, then listed his injuries before the man in question could speak. She put a start by 'neck'. She did the same for her brother. She had to pause there and wait for Sean to speak. She really didn't pay much attention to the others who played the game, though she knew that several of the other Kestrels had been injured, too.
