PUDDLEMERE MANAGER CAUGHT TRESPASSING
By Belinda Goodwright, Quidditch Correspondent
Puddlemere United manager Philbert Deverill has never been noted for his awareness of boundaries, and so it may come as little surprise that he was escorted off Hogwarts grounds Wednesday evening after being caught attempting to scout new talent during a Hufflepuff team practise - without permission to be on the property. Deverill was found concealed behind a group of trees not far from the school pitch, with binoculars and a Quick-Quotes quill. He was forcibly removed from the property after attempting to explain his presence as a “scouting exercise well within his rights as a professional” and subsequently refusing to leave. There is reason to believe that his faux pas included a near miss with the infamous Whomping Willow, possibly due to an attempt to hide.
At this time it is unknown how Deverill broke through Hogwarts’ many security spells, but the matter is under investigation. Headmistress Minerva McGonagall has opted not to press formal charges, but expressed outrage at Deverill’s presence, calling it “blatantly disrespectful and utterly unbelievable behaviour for a grown man.” A BIL representative has confirmed that Deverill will be fined for the incident, but declined further comment.
Mr. Deverill has also been unavailable for a statement, though it seems likely that in light of this and Puddlemere's disastrous loss at the hands of the Wimbourne Wasps earlier in the week, he will be keeping a low profile for the time being.
