"I did," Oliver replied to her question about his Christmas shopping. "It was just bits and bobs I had to buy to finish it off," which was true, seeing how he had done majority of it early last weak, in an attempt to escape the crowds, which hadn't quite worked. But it was all done now, thank God, so he could go about his business of ignoring everything else about Christmas in the existence.
To be quite honest, Oliver wasn't sure how to explain his hate of Christmas. It was... mostly down to his family, really. Christmas had always been a hard time in the Wood household, what with his mother being off her face half the time and his father caring for her as the Wood siblings were left on their own devices. "My family doesn't really have a good track record of good Christmases," he answered as honestly as he could without saying 'My mother's crazy and my dad's a dick', which would've been the whole truth.
"Seven siblings!" Oliver exclaimed. "And I thought buying presents for three was hard enough," because he did just buy presents for his siblings, never bothering with his parents, they wouldn't appreciate it anyway. He did have to buy presents for Alicia and Angelina and Katie, too, mind you, which was almost like buying presents for your siblings but that was mostly because the girls always got him something and Oliver felt guilty for not doing the same.
