When Alicia came through the fireplace full of rage, George's first thought was to blurt out 'I DIDN'T DO IT!' Of course, before he could get to that point, she was telling him that they were going to elope and not have a big wedding. Not having a big wedding was fine with him, he didn't want a huge event like Bill's had been, just something small with his immediate family and close friends.
As it was, he'd been getting asked a lot by his fair share of people what he was going to do and this or that. For George it was simple. Fred would be his best man. Hands down. No ifs, ands, or buts. His other brothers could be the groomsmen. And Ginny, well, she'd be in there somewhere. Was there such a thing as a groomsister?
Truth be told though, it would be nice to just get married, just him and Alicia, then throw some sort of party afterwards for their parents' sakes and not worry about some big formal reception. Neither of them were that sort anyway.
Which lead George to a very simple answer: "Fine by me." he shrugged, then, not wanting to make his mother upset, added on, "But I think we should have a party afterwards. Y'know. So my mum and your mum don't kill us both." Then he recalled that she'd also mentioned cake. "Cake is always excellent."
