Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
WHO: Kenneth & ANYONE & EVERYONE!!
WHEN: 8pm
WHERE: Ministry of Sound (a muggle club)
WHAT: his first headlining (kind of) gig
RATING: tbd

Everyone (Katie especially) was making a bigger deal out of this than necessary as far as Ken was concerned. He wasn't exactly famous or anything. Well, not for his music. Yet. And Katie threatening everyone to come or die (even without seeing the journal entry, he knew her well enough) wasn't exactly the willing show of support he'd expected. But at least it packed the little muggle club pretty full. He wasn't expecting a big to-do about the whole thing and it was already bigger than he anticipated.

Ken played a pretty decent set. It wasn't overly long, but it wasn't anything like an open mic night. 45 minutes. About seven songs. He bounced between happy and ballads. Kenneth's sound does kind of a Jason Mraz thing. He can croon out fantastically, but he's has a bit of white boy rap that just flows when he's in the mood. He was in top form. He got good responses. And all in all by the time he was done and the DJ took over, he was feeling pretty good.

Hopping down from his set, Ken made his way to the bar. He may have been on a post-gig high, but he was still a little nervous. Now was the time to hear his friends' responses. And get a drink. Bloody hell he needed a drink. "Rum and coke."

Katie was being supportive, not making a 'big deal'. Besides, she'd gotten the pub full, hadn't she? He was lucky she hadn't made an announcement in the paper. She'd considered it, but she knew he would take it badly. Men and their pride.

Sipping on a Mai Thai, Katie awaited to hear their friends' responses.

Oliver was bloody proud of his best mate. The set had been fantastic and he had no idea why Kenneth hadn't been signed by some record company. He gave him a friendly knock on the arm when he sat down. "Brilliant, mate, but I didn't think I needed to tell you that." He was sipping on a pint, his head already a bit buzzed.

Kenneth slid down on a stool next to Katie and Oliver. She didn't say anything, but he could see the smirk on her face. There was something about Katie that always left him unnerved and excited at the same time. She was a hazard to his health most days. But he adored her for it anyway.

Of course Oliver was the first one to speak. Or slur, as it were. "Thanks, mate. Glad you're finally out of the house, even if it is only because someone-" Ken gave a sideways smirk in Katie's direction "-threatened death or dismemberment." Likely the latter, as Ken could see Katie getting rather violent with people.

"I did no such thing," she said, glaring.

Kenneth cocked his head, looking at Katie fully. She looked fantastic, actually. Except for the fact that she was giving him the icy glare of death. "My arse you didn't. I know your wiley ways, Bell. You did exactly that. And I bet if I asked around, half the people here would say the same thing."

Katie knew that they wouldn't dare. "Try it, Towler. Besides, Oliver's just here for a few drinks, aren't you, darling?" She teased.

"I will neither confirm nor deny that Katie threatened to beat me up if I didn't come." He rolled his eyes and took another drink. "But I would have come anyway. Even boring old Oliver needs a night out."

"Your refusal to respond is an indirect admission, Oliver." Ken glanced from Katie to Oliver and then back again. "Oliver never gets out unless threatened. I know better." He grinned a little nudging Katie with his knee. "Besides, I know you, too well. You're not happy unless you're bossing people around, Katie."

"I don't know what you mean and I'm slightly offended that you think of me in such a way, Kenneth. Besides, leaving his mansion is good for him. Someone needs to make sure Oliver has a life and it's in my godson's best interest if I step in and make sure his dad gets some fun in," she said innocently.

"You are not." Ken downed his rum and coke and ordered another. "Besides, Katie, you don't know how I think of you. And you can't prove a thing." Smriking, Ken turned back to Oliver, who didn't seem to have a desire to put his foot in this little conversation. "And this conversation is less about stick-in-the-mud Oliver than it is about you being pushy."

Katie rolled her eyes. She wasn't that pushy. Only when it was needed.
