Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Who: Miles and Annalisse
What: Lunch
Where: Diagon Alley Cafe
When: Tuesday Afternoon
Rating: TBA
Status: In Progress

Miles was running a little bit late for lunch. He hadn't gotten much sleep the night before and the morning practice session was rough, not that he minded. He had barely had time for a quick shower in the locker room before heading to Diagon Alley for lunch. He had two hours before he was due back on the pitch.

It had been some time since he had seen Annalisse even though they spoke often over journals. There was a time after her graduation that they had seen a lot more of each other. Quidditch season had ended the summer affair, but there were no hard feelings there. With Miles life, it would have ended eventually. She had married shortly after and their respective careers had taken on a life of their own. He wondered for a moment how her husband would feel about them having a lunch date but he really didn't have anything to worry about. They were friends. There was nothing wrong with that.

Miles arrived at the cafe and looked around for the familiar head of dark hair, not seeing her at first. He was going to ask a waitress until he heard a voice addressing him.

Annalisa had quite frankly planned on Miles running late. It didn't change the fact that she was right on time to the cafe though- somethings just didn't change. She took the time to relax- practice had been rough with the reserve beater flying with them again. She sipped at her soda wishing she could slip something a little stronger into it, but she was going to be back on the pitch before the day was out.

Thinking about work was only stressing her out- she might love the job but there were always frustrating days. Instead she let her mind wander to Miles. A small smile formed on her lips as she played through memories from years ago. She couldn't believe how much had happened since her little fling with Miles but she found she was still fond of the memories...

As she thought about him he stepped into her view and she smiled. He didn't seem to notice her though and she gave a small chuckle before calling out. "Forgotten what I looked like already, Miles?"

He smiled as he turned to the side, supposing he was a little bit distracted. It was understandable now that the season had started again. This was a crazy time of year, but he loved it. Even double practices didn't bother him. He did live for the game still.

"How could I forget what you look like, darling?" he said, bowing down to kiss her cheek. "You do look good. Have they been working you hard?" To Miles, the harder he was worked, the better it was. He winked and took the seat across from Annalisse. She was married but that didn't mean that he wasn't going to flirt with her. It never did.

Annalissa smiled playfully when he turned around to compliment her, offering her cheek for him. "You sound so surprised," she teased. "I didn't know there was such a thing as being worked too hard." Anna was smirking but she was honest. She lived to be pushed harde4r and farther and typically put too high of expectations on herself.

"What about you? Taking it easy?"

"There is no such thing as too hard," Miles replied, returning that look. It was a common sentiment among players, especially those that lived for the game. "Since when do I take anything easy? There are a couple of backups that need work but I have my usual random purple welts to prove how hard I work." While it was a true that a keeper did have the extra padding, Miles didn't like to feel so bulky during practice. It made him tougher as well, or so he thought. There were potions to take care of the bruising anyway.

"How is married life?" he asked, tossing that out. They had a nice fling before she ended up locked down for life. He really didn't think she was ready to do that when she did, but he respected the decision.

Annalisa smiled warmly, glad to hear that Miles was still Miles. There was something comforting about knowing that an old... friend was still who he was. The married life question kind of surprised her but she supposed it shouldn't have. She gave him a small laugh before taking a drink of her soda. "Not as bad as the rags report," she promised with her typical little smirk.

"I don't know, there's not a lot to tell I guess. Weird having to get used to living with another person but honestly we're both so busy working that we're not always in each other's way or anything. And it's not like we didn't date back in Hogwarts too," she gave a small shrug, studying him a moment. "You think I'm crazy for having done it, don't you?"

Miles raised an eyebrow. "Nothing is ever what the papers report but there is usually a little bit of truth to the rumors," he said. "You two definitely went rounds before tying on the ball and chain. I didn't expect it so soon that year after graduation." He wasn't offended that they had split not long before. They had fun, no hard feelings about it.

"So I think you are a little bit crazy about the whole thing, but you already know my history when it comes to commitment. Perhaps I should say lack of history since I have never actually been committed. And if I ever do, I should probably be committed." He smiled and shook his head. "I won't fault you if it works for you but I like some variety in my life."

Annalisa gave a small shrug and a wobble of her head indicating that she both agreed and disagreed. "We get into rows but who doesn't? We're just a little too passionate I guess." To be honest she loved the fighting. Not always, mind, but usually. It made her feel alive if nothing else.

When he mentioned the timing she gave her own little half laugh her mouth turned in a semi-guilty smile. "Yeah... I mean, you know where I was that year, I wasn't exactly looking for forever but- I don't know, we'd been dancing around each other for so many years and our families were well matched. A lot of it had to do with responsibility as much as emotions, maybe more." Annalisa loved Bryce, there was no doubt about that, but she wasn't the sort of person to make decisions based on that love.

She laughed and shook her head. "Maybe you'll try it some day. It's nice. It's different, but it's nice." She had a feeling that some day 'variety' wasn't going to work for Miles and he'd want to settle down too, it would just take a lot longer she figured.

Miles shrugged, "I don't know about that. I can't be forced into something. I will rebel completely." He did know himself well enough to know that if someone arranged a marriage for him, he would be shagging every bird he could find. "I want someone to blow me away. I haven't met her yet, I don't think."

He looked up with his midnight blue eyes. It was a romantic notion. He didn't have many of them. "Since that is hard to do, I think I will stick to great sex." There really hadn't been anyone he had thought about in the long term, not to mention marriage. "Don't you ever get bored and want to rum for freedom for a little while?"
