*Marathons Gone Wild, 512*

Thank you to the amazing and generous [info]qafmaniac for our banner and icons!

Good morning! It's time for 512...aka Brian and Justin freak out the entire world by announcing their marriage. That spawned one of my favorite Queer as Folk lines when Debbie concludes that Brian must have "knocked up Sunshine." Come join us for that and more...or stop by later and have some fun.

Don't forget, we're doing the FINAL Queer as Folk episode ever at 1:45 CST today as well. It's guaranteed to generate some discussion. Hope to see you there.

Ready? Here we go...

...all over the loft. :D

They do have several episodes to make up for, after all.

And I get such a kick out the faces Brian makes when Justin is "naming" Britin.

Ted spitting out his coffee.

Debbie: There's only one explanation...he must've knocked up Sunshine.

Michael: I do not love him. I don't and he certainly doesn't love me.

And Ben! I &hearts you.

What Justin wants, Justin gets.

At least they finally make up.

Brian looks very beautiful in that suit. :)

That's pretty funny. And I love how Ted just watches the whole process...

Em to Ted: You met someone? Again?

No kidding...

And Tad is the WORST. I can't stand that guy...even from the start.

That cracks me up, too, Brian! I love when he laughs like that.

Brian: My mom wants me to wear the dress she wore..hahahaaha!

There is a lot of underlying sadness there though. I still don't like the idea of the lesbians leaving Pittsburgh with those babies.

Are Mel and Lindsay right?

How *DO* they deal with all this now?

You can't ignore the fact that they were *attacked* and people were killed, but how do you deal with this now?

I certainly don't know myself...

I hope Justin washes that paint shirt occasionally.

I completely and totally agree with Justin's assessment of where he needs to be right now. That's not always the popular line of thinking, but I think he can paint and live in Pittsburgh and still be a success. I've never had anyone convincingly explain to me why he *had* to be in New York to be an artist.

So, when Michael says he doesn't like the idea and Mel says, "We figured as much," does that mean they really *weren't* planning to go, that they never really figured Michael would do it? Or were they just gearing up to yell and scream a bit and *then* go ahead and go?

Of course, it doesn't really matter when Brian says Gus stays in Pittsburgh.

I know it's petty and this is important, but I would have *loved* to see Brian lay in to Melanie a little more there. He's too calm. Which is probably the best way to handle it, but still...

It would have been a cool fight. :D

Someone take a good look at Brian and then tell me he doesn't look good in season 5.

I love how he can't stop watching Gus. And I don't agree when Lindsay says that keeping them there won't make up for lost opportunities. It will give them new opportunities that Brian WILL NOT have if they leave. Period. Of course, they can't go back and change what's already happened, but they can all be together.

:D I love Brian.

Brian: He likes big words.

Justin's so cute, he just keeps looking at his wedding magazines.

Justin: What makes you think NY would be any different?
Brian doesn't answer. BECAUSE HE CAN'T think of a good reason for him to go. Stupid New York.

FINAL THOUGHTS
[info]noteverything
2009-08-05 02:45 pm UTC (link)
I don't know if it's because I stayed up until 1 a.m. and got up at 6:20 a.m. or if I'm just jaded because I know what's coming, but I found this episode a little dull this time around.

I'm fine with Brian and Justin not getting married, but I remained unconvinced that Justin *HAD* to go to New York. I also still very much think that Melanie and Lindsay needed to at *least* think some more about fleeing the country with children that also belong to other people. Ted and Tad and Drew and Emmett aren't holding my attention at all right now. I'm glad Hunter decided to go back to school and that Ben and Michael are happy.

What do you think about this episode?

Maybe its just me.. but I watched 512 and the whole wedding planning just didn't feel right for them. I thought the declaration of love, and even the big Britin gesture, was very sweet and apt (and very like Brian - all or nothing). But I ddidn't feel the same about Justin's seating plans and Brian's wedding list and their flower arrangements. It didn't feel or look right!

Even if the commitment sentiments remained of all people I thought Brian and Justin would shun the very traditional white wedding, rehearsal dinner, golden gardienas etc.

I actually felt relived when they walked into the dinner to let them know that they were no longer getting 'married'. They still looked so happy!

I bawled like a baby at the end of 513 of course (I wanted them to be together!!) but I really think that (just like after Ethan) when they get back to the living together stage they will be stronger than ever. Justin is still young and he's never really (only very briefly!) lived on his own terms. When he and Brian decide to live together again (maybe they'll have homes in both NY and Pitts!) they'll both be a lot more assured in what works and what doesn't

*hug*
