Gift # 10

TITLE: Moving Forward
GIFT REQUEST: Fic. Love most anything. I particularly (like most of us) love an ending where Justin and Brian are together. I prefer they remain as in character as possible. I prefer AU's.
When Justin moved to New York City, Brian decided to sell the loft anyway. Deep down Brian liked the thought of moving to West Virginia and into the house he had bought for Justin. While Brian wasn’t completely sure Justin would ever come back to him, he knew they would always love each other. It had taken Brian too many years to finally admit to both himself and Justin that they were in love and they were in a relationship. It was amazing to Brian that Justin stayed with him for so many years and through so many break ups while Brian struggled to accept the idea of being with someone. In a way Brian thought it was funny that after he finally accepted he loved Justin that Justin moved to New York City.
There was a part of Brian that blamed Lindsay because she filled Brian’s mind with the idea that Justin needed to go to New York in order to be successful. Their last night together was both beautiful and heartbreaking. Brian could not believe he had actually fallen asleep and did not wake up when Justin left. He remembered how silent it was in the loft once he woke up, it was a silence he could not get used to. It was then he decided to sell the loft as he originally planned and move to the house. His friends didn’t understand but were supportive; they helped him move and set up the house. He let Emmett do what he wanted with the formal dining room and the living room. Brian was quite surprised at how tasteful those rooms looked; they were perfect for hosting a dinner party or an important business meeting.
Justin called Brian the first night he was in New York. Although he missed Brian and was worried about their future he was also very excited to be in New York City. He was going to try his best to get established. Unfortunately things were not proceeding as quickly as Justin would like. He was homesick and lonely; he had thoughts of going home. Home to Brian. He hoped Brian felt the same way.
In Pittsburgh Brian was doing his best to make his advertising agency a success. He had hopes of moving to New York City to be with Justin. He wasn’t sure how realistic that would be. His company was doing well and it seemed every time he made a presentation the client couldn’t wait to sign the contract. He kept in touch with Justin frequently by phone and video but he did not make the trip to New York. Brian knew it would be too hard for him to leave and he didn’t want to go through that. A couple of times Justin mentioned Brian coming to visit and instead of being mad when Brian would not visit he realized it would be difficult to watch Brian leave.
After six months Justin wasn’t anywhere near being noticed with his art. He began to plan his return to Pittsburgh and to Brian. He knew Brian would welcome him with open arms. He still could not believe he was living in the house in West Virginia and had sold the loft. Brian had thought about selling Babylon as well but after discussing it with Justin they decided it would be a good idea to keep the club. It was bringing in a lot of money. Brian rarely went there anymore, he was tired of being the club boy he used to be.
It was midmorning on a Sunday when Brian heard a car pull up the driveway. He was hopeful it would be Justin but realistically thought it was Michael. After a few minutes the front door burst open and in walked a smiling Justin.
“Brian!”
“Hey there! I was hoping that was you,” Brian walked over to Justin and pulled him into his arms. They held each other tightly, then just looked into each other’s eyes. “It is so good to see you Justin,” Brian began.
“You too. I’ve missed you so much,” Justin smiled as Brian leaned down to kiss him. It was a gentle kiss.
“I missed you too. I’m so glad you’re here. How long are you staying?”
Without missing a beat Justin replied, “I’m not going back to New York. I’m not happy there anymore and no one is interested in my paintings. I’d rather live my life here with you.” He looked up at Brian hoping there wasn’t going to be a scene.
Brian smiled and grabbed Justin tightly to his chest. “Welcome home!”
“Wow, that was easy!”
“I’ve realized I’m lonely, and I miss you. If you aren’t happy in New York then you should come back home.” Justin smiled happily.
“Good! Now why don’t you show me what you’ve done with the master bedroom…” Justin pulled Brian up the stairs.
Once they were in the bedroom they stripped off each other’s clothes, neither wanted to wait a minute longer. The sex was hard and fast; it was exactly what both of them needed. Afterwards they lay next to each other. Round two was initiated by Justin and this time it was slow and tender; each one showing with their body how much the other was loved.
The next morning Justin woke up before Brian. He watched Brian sleep and wondered how he had stayed away for so long. Then Brian’s eye’s opened and he smiled as he looked at Justin.
“You are here…it wasn’t a dream.”
“Not a dream at all. I’m here for good,” Justin smiled. He couldn’t remember a time he was as happy.
“I’m glad.”
“Good, so am I. I’m also hungry. Let’s go to Deb’s for breakfast!”
“Well some things never change!” Brian laughed.
Both of them knew they would have good and bad times; they also knew they loved each other. As they were walking to the car, Brian took Justin’s hand in his and said, “I love you Justin.”
Justin smiled and said to Brian, “I know. And I love you too.”
The End
