Gift Request: A humorous fic, where Brian winds up working on a campaign with Neil Patrick Harris, and taunts Justin about his working with the grown up and gorgeous Doogie Howser. Can take place any time after Kinnetik is open for business.
Rating: PG-13
Summary: Brian works with actor Neil Patrick Harris on an ad campaign. Justin is jealous, especially when Brian starts spending nights with the grown up Doogie Howser, who is super hot, and also happens to be gay.
I can't suppress my laugh when I hear the voice on the other end of the phone tell me that they've commissioned Doogie Howser to sell their antiperspirant.
"You find this funny, Mr. Kinney?'
"Isn't he about 12 years old?" I remark with my usual sarcastic wit.
"No," Mr. Vaughn replies. "On the contrary, Neil Patrick Harris is thirty-five now. In fact, we'd like you to meet him so you can get some inspiration for our campaign. We expect you to use his celebrity to sell our product, of course. What time would be good for us to come by your office tomorrow?"
"Why don't you bring him here around noon. We can cater lunch from La Fontana."
"Superb idea, we'll see you then."
"Bye," I mumble as I hang up the phone.
'Neil Patrick Harris,' I repeat to myself. It just so happens that I used to watch "Doogie Howser" all the time. I've worked with celebrities in the past, so why does this bit of information make my dick tingle?
"Hey Brian," Justin greets me.
"Hey".
I walk up to him and claim his rose colored lips, while tangling my fingers in his soft blond locks.
"Mmmmmm...." he moans appreciatively. "To what do I owe the pleasure of this good mood you're in?"
"Let's just say I had an interesting day."
"What was so interesting about it?"
"I found out that I'm going to work with Doogie Howser."
"Doogie who?" Justin questions as he crinkles his nose.
He makes the most adorable faces. But of course, I would never tell him that. Instead, I decide to tease him.
"You've never heard of Neil Patrick Harris, the actor?"
He thinks about it a minute, and then to my surprise responds, "You mean the guy in How I Met Your Mother?"
"The one and only," I say, as if I am an authority on Mr. Harris' acting career. I only just found out today that he was currently on TV, when one of my interns recognized his name.
"He's hot," Justin proclaims. Then, I see him suddenly frown.
"Something wrong, Sunshine?"
"Uh, you do know that he's gay in real life, right? He just came out recently."
"I had no idea." I say with a smirk. Of course, I knew it already. My intern couldn't wait to impart that piece of news.
"Don't get any ideas," my blond warns me. He can read me all too well.
"Why Sunshine, what ever do you mean? Besides, I seem to recall your foray into the film industry. Wasn't there a certain famous actor you hooked up with when you were out in California?"
He blushes and defends, "That was a lifetime ago. I was young and foolish."
"Are you telling me that I can't sample Mr. Harris' charms?"
"You're free to do what you want," he sighs. "I know that you love me, and that he isn't a threat to our relationship."
"Good to know that you're not jealous, because I'm meeting with him tomorrow."
"That's nice," my blond says, a little too quickly for it to sound sincere.
"You know, I could get you an autograph."
"I don't want his fucking autograph. I'm not some starry-eyed fan."
Trying to pretend that it doesn't bother him, Justin retreats to the kitchen to fuss with dinner. I decide to follow him to further taunt him.
"I thought you said he was hot."
"He is," Justin reluctantly admits, "...for an older guy."
I know for certain that comment was meant to irritate me.
"That older guy is younger than me," I quip.
Then, I scowl at him. 'The little shit.' He knows age is a sensitive subject for me, since I'm going to turn the big 4-0 this year.
"Let's eat I'm starved," he says, ignoring my glare.
I know my boy has a hearty appetite, but I also know that he's trying to change the subject. I relent for the time being, but silently vow to get him back for the "older guy" retort.
Next morning at the diner...
"Holy shit, you get to work with Neil Patrick Harris?" Michael exclaims excitedly.
"The boy is hot with a capital H," Emmett chimes in. "Have you seen his body? He could be a Greek God."
I notice Justin squirming uncomfortably in his seat. Amused, I egg Emmett on.
"Yep, it seems Doogie Howser is all grown up, and ripe for the picking." Then, I direct at Emmett, "You can always play delivery boy, and get your ass inside my office to meet him. We're ordering in."
"Don't worry. I'll keep an eye on Brian for you," Ted assures Justin.
I throw Theodore a death glare, and he freezes.
"It's no big deal," Justin states. "Brian's a big boy. He can do what he wants. We're not married after all."
All three friends look at each other, knowing that something is up.
There are a few moments of awkward silence, as everyone shoves food in their mouth, or takes a sip of their coffee.
"Well, gotta go," I hastily announce.
"Don't forget to tell Mr. Tall, Blond and Handsome about your fabulous friend," Emmett reminds me.
"Fuck off," I tease. "I've got first dibs on his ass."
I notice Justin grimace before I take my leave. 'If he doesn't realize by now that I've changed, he deserves to be fucked with. Although we've never discussed it, I've only had my dick in his exquisite ass this past year.'
That evening at the loft...
I slide the loft door shut, and spy Justin on the couch. He stops sketching, and picks his head up to look at me. I smile at him, and wait for his questions. I can feel it coming...4...3...2..
"So, how was your meeting? Was Mr. Harris all that you dreamed of?"
I hear the caustic tone in his voice and know that I'm treading on thin ice here.
"And more. I'm happy to report that Mr. Tall, Blond, and Handsome is in terrific shape. He must have a personal trainer...everyone in Hollywood does."
I can tell he's dying to know if I fucked him, but he refrains.
I ask him to order Thai, as I head towards the bedroom to change into comfortable clothes. Justin seems preoccupied as we each take a cushion, and sit cross legged on the floor. I try my best to initiate innocuous conversation, but he's in a strange mood.
"And how was your day, dear?"
"Not nearly as exciting as yours."
The doorbell rings, and the words "saved by the bell" come to mind. Thankfully, it's our food. We eat straight from the boxes, and he ends up feeding me the last bit of noodles from the carton. I kiss him and we sink to the floor. Soon, he's lying on top of me.
Suddenly remembering something, Justin disentangles himself from my grasp, and jumps to his feet.
"Oh shit, I forgot about dessert. I made a pineapple upside down cake."
He briskly walks to the kitchen counter and cuts two slices.
"No, thanks," I state before he has a chance to serve it. "I'm full."
He looks a little disappointed, but says in an annoyingly childlike manner, "That's okay, more for me."
"Better watch it, Sunshine. You don't want to become short, blond and fat," I say with as much sarcasm as I can muster. "Your cheeks will spread, and I'll have to look elsewhere."
"Guess I have to be careful, since I might be replaced by that tall, blond Adonis you're working with."
"Hmmm...not a bad idea. He does have a great ass."
My blond grabs a hold of the first thing he can, and throws it at me.
I smirk to myself as I duck. It's so easy to bait my Sunshine.
One week later...
I'm in a private meeting with the star of my latest campaign. We look at the test shots, and review the lines that he will have to recite for the commercial. I'm leaning over him, and he turns a little red as he shifts uncomfortably in his seat. His uneasiness has me thinking impure thoughts, and I clear my throat.
Neil turns and smiles, obviously feeling the heat of my desire. I dazzle him with a sexy grin. It must have worked, because now he's getting ready to ask me something.
"How about hanging out with me tonight? There's something I'd like you to see."
I realize I've got him where I want him, so why do I suddenly feel like a shit? I'll tell you why, it's because of Justin. Fuck, he's not even here and I feel guilty. Gone are the days of sex without regrets. The thought of hurting him makes my dick soft, and surprisingly, I turn down Neil's offer.
"I'm really flattered but I'm in a relationship."
Shit. I can't believe those words are coming out of my mouth.
"Um...I know that you have a boyfriend Brian, so do I. When I said that I wanted you to see something, I wasn't talking about my dick," he laughs.
Boy, do I feel like a complete ass. 'Way to deflate my ego, Neil.'
I've spent three interesting nights this past week with Neil. Justin hasn't said anything about it, but I keep waiting for him to throw a hissy fit. The boy can sure act like a queen when he wants to. When I announce that I will be going out again tonight, he becomes uncharacteristically quiet. I can tell that Justin's upset, but he manages to maintain his composure.
I'm about to enter a club with Neil, when I'm surprised to hear a distinct, familiar voice call my name. I pivot on my heels to face Justin, and I can see that he's fuming. Fuck me.
Realizing who it is, Neil wisely says, "I'll leave you two alone." With that remark, Mr. Tall, Blond, and Chicken makes a quick escape, and enters the Magic Castle without me.
"So what kind of club is this Brian?" my blond demands through gritted teeth. "Is it S & M? Is that what Hollywood stars do for kicks nowadays?"
I know I have to explain fast before Justin has a full blown drama princess moment, but then I get an idea.
"Why don't you come in and see for yourself," I remark with a wicked glint in my eye.
"This had better be good or..."
Justin hesitates, so I jump in.
"Or what?" I say provocatively.
"You're going to be best friends with your hand for a long time," my blond threatens.
I frown, but on the inside I'm amused. I think that maybe I don't mind so much anymore that he's jealous. He's always been possessive of me, but it's nice to know that he still feels that way after all this time.
We're led to a booth and Justin stares in amazement at the stage. I can tell that he still thinks that this is some sort of den of iniquity. The entertainment begins and his confusion finally lends it's way to understanding. I see the mirth spread from his eyes to his lips. He turns to me and shakes his head incredulously.
I'm pleased when my newly acquired friend decides to join us afterward for a drink. Neil is an amateur magician, and has practiced honing his skills for years. He served as the master of ceremonies tonight.
"Did you enjoy the show?" Neil quizzes Justin.
"Yes, very much. I didn't know you had hidden talents."
"Brian has some hidden talents too," Neil says, but then blushes when he realizes how it sounds. "Err, I mean, he's a natural ...um I think I'll just keep my mouth shut before I get myself into trouble. Nice to meet you, Justin."
Grown up Doogie winks at me, and then leaves our table. I sense that Justin is wondering again if anything has gone on between us.
"I guess the cat's out of the bag, so to speak," I admit, purposely misleading him to gauge his reaction.
Justin gives me an exasperated look, and surrenders to his insecurities.
"Just tell me one thing Brian...did you fuck him?"
"No, but I did do some experimenting with him."
"Oh," Justin says. And then he dejectedly peers down at his sneakers.
"Not that kind of experimenting. He was trying to teach me some tricks."
"You mean...like in magic tricks?"
"Bingo."
"Since when did you become interested in magic? Although, I did have this weird dream once about us levitating and fucking in mid air."
I raise an eyebrow in wonder, trying to imagine that in my mind. Then, I finally explain to my blond, "I thought I'd bring some magic into our bedroom."
"We don't need tricks," Justin says sincerely, "we've already got our own special kind of magic."
I smile and pull him close. Leaning my forehead against his, I breathe in his sweet, unique scent. I feel the intense pull, our undeniable attraction, stirring my loins.
"You're right, we do. And you're the only one I want," I confess. "The only one I need."
My desire for the man in front of me, begins to overwhelm me. Before I ravish him right then and there, I take a step back and propose, "Let's go home."
Justin just stands there, obviously pondering something. He meets my gaze and adds slyly, "You know Brian, it would be a shame to let your new found talent go to waste. Maybe you can show me what you've learned..."
"I was hoping your curiosity would get the best of you, Sunshine."
I lead Justin to the car, reach under my seat and retrieve something.
"What's that?" he inquires.
"It's my bag of tricks, of course. What kind of an aspiring magician would I be if I didn't come prepared with props?"
"Don't forget a magician's most important tool," my blond reminds me smugly.
"Hmmm, and what would that be?"
"Your magic wand."
I raise an eyebrow, and chortle at our ridiculous exchange. But when Justin flashes me a big sunshine smile, my heart flutters wildly in my chest. I suddenly can't wait to give him a night he'll remember, so I make it home in record time.
