It's Even Worse Than Last Year V-VIII
Title: It's Even Worse Than Last Year
Author: xheartrockx
Prompt(s): If at first...., jet lag, bridge (photo prompt), such a shame
Notes: This is the sequel to The Worst Holiday Season Ever – which you should read in order for this to make sense. This starts shortly after Thanksgiving and follows the prompts in order. Sometimes it's one prompt!day per fic!day, sometimes I use more than one prompt to tell a day in the fic.
If at first you don't succeed...
"Just to be clear... tell me why you're bringing all this with you? You could've bought half of that shit in Pittsburgh."
"For the record...," Justin makes another feeble attempt to close his suitcase, "this shit is our Christmas presents to our friends and I will be so kind to say are from both of us."
"For the record," Brian mocks his tone, wrapping an arm around his partner, "I won't be paying for your excess baggage. But I know a way to help you close that suitcase." With that, he pushes Justin down on the suitcase, kissing him soundly.

Dangerous Minds
"Good morning, boss. Here are the latest drafts for the new Russell campaign," Cynthia flutters into Brian's office the following morning, carrying a stack of files.
Brian mumbles a greeting around his coffee cup then sits to inspect the files, barely scanning their content.
"What? Are you jet lagged? It's a one hour flight." She regards him for a moment. "Or did someone keep you up all night?" She winks, knowingly.
"I have been up all night," Brian admits and Cynthia can barely fight a grin. So he clarifies, somewhat annoyed: "Thinking."
"Is that what you boys call it now?"

Across The Bridge
"It's been almost a year." At Cynthia's quizzically raised brow, Brian adds: "Since I told him that by this time next year, we would be married."
"And you aren't." Cynthia sits down on the other side of the desk.
"It seemed like a bridge we would cross when we got to it. Just didn't happen."
"But you do want to marry him?" Leave to Cynthia to bypass his bullshit and ask the question he doesn't quite dare to think.
Brian mulls over that for a moment, than feels a foolish little grin spread in his face. "Yeah. Yeah, I do."

Shame, shame, shame
"So what are you waiting for?" Cynthia pushes.
"For you to get off my back."
Cynthia sighs melodramatically. "I know you would chicken out about this. Such a shame, really. You would have made Justin a lovely wife."
Brian eyes her: "Do you love your job?"
"Brian, he loves you and you love him. You got almost married once. What's keeping you from doing it again? He will say yes." When Brian remains quiet, she continues: "Why don't you just surprise him with it?
He shrugs. "I don't where to start."
Cynthia throws her hands up: "Easy. We call Emmett."
