Title: I've Always Hated Saturdays
Author: </a></strong></a>exmptfromsanity
Timeline: 17 years before season one
Condoms: one to michael, one to Brian
“I’ll be at work until nine. Call the diner if you need anything.” His mother pressed a kiss to his forehead and headed out the door.
Michael closed the comic book he had been pouring over with a sigh. He hated Saturdays. He always had. All of his few friends went and did things with their dads. He wanted that. He felt really lost.
He jumped when the phone rang.
“Hello?”
“Hey,” Brian hadn’t been his friend long. At twelve he was going through a… phase.
“Listen, my dad’s going down to the bowling alley this afternoon. You wanna come?”
Part II
“Come on kid, let’s get you away from the warden and those books for an afternoon.” Jack was trying to show him some affection in apology for the bruise across his ribs.
“Where?”
“Uh… the bowling alley.”
“Can I bring a friend?” Brian was thinking of Michael, who’d invited him over more than once in the past few weeks, whose mother thought he was too skinny.
“Sure.” Jack looked surprised.
He placed the call and explained it. “You wanna come?”
“Sure.” He could hear the smile in Michael’s voice.
Maybe with a friend Saturdays with his father would be bearable.
