Dec. 9: The hand you were dealt
I've never written a death!fic, mostly because of the pain it would cause me. I decided, however, that I could handle death!fic in a drabble; hence, The Hand You Were Dealt. As it turned out, my muse wouldn't go as far as all-out, no-holds-barred death!fic, but death is definitely implied, so I've put it behind a cut. It's your decision.

“I wanted to die young and make a beautiful corpse.” Brian coughed ineffectually, his body’s only response a gurgle in his chest. “Instead I’m sixty-nine years old and lying here like Mimi in that fucking opera we saw years ago, remember? I thought I’d have a heart attack fucking some hot young guy, and….bingo!”

Justin was dry-eyed. Brian’s congestive heart failure had gotten worse over several years, and he had done his mourning. “You gotta play the hand you were dealt, Brian. I wouldn’t trade a moment I’ve had with you even if it’s inconvenient for you.”

“Asshole,” Brian said.

	Imma just gonna pretend Brian said he was 79, maybe even 89, so Justin isn't left alone too long after he goes, lol. I hate death fic, but having them both resolved to handle it all dry eyed helped a lot and let me focus on how their personalities stayed true all those years and be happy they spent it all loving each other.
