It's Even Worse Than Last Year XXI-XXV
Title: It's Even Worse Than Last Year
Author: xheartrockx
Prompt(s): Fire (picture prompt), Hanukkah, Cars, trains, buses, and planes, Red lights (picture prompt), Somehow I always knew this would happen
Notes: This is the sequel to The Worst Holiday Season Ever – which you should read in order for this to make sense. This starts shortly after Thanksgiving and follows the prompts in order. Sometimes it's one prompt!day per fic!day, sometimes I use more than one prompt to tell a day in the fic.
A/N2: This probably won't be finished before the deadline but I hope you'll stay tuned for the rest of the drabbles.
Fire To The Rain
"Brian, you haven't said anything about Christmas since I told you."
"Because there is nothing to talk about. We'll just cancel it and that's it. It's no big deal."
Brian feels Justin's eyes on him and he busies himself throwing another log on the fire.
"No big deal? Everyone was invited. And that I got you to agree to it in the first place is a big deal."
"It's just Christmas, alright? We'll just un-invite everyone. It's not the first time. Let them have the party at Deb's house." With more anger than he needs to, Brian adds: "They'll live."

Hanukkah
"How about we make it a Hanukkah thing?" Justin suggests and it sounds like a peace offering.
Brian hates it. He hates this whole conversation and wishes Justin would just let it go. Just as he has already let go of his plans for Christmas. And for their wedding.
"In case you failed to notice, neither of us is Jewish."
"Melanie is."
"And by celebrating some second-hand Christmas because fame is a-calling you would fill her with so much glee that it would last her a lifetime. Which is all the more reason to just cancel the whole damn thing."

What it like in New York City
Brian drops Justin off at the airport a couple of days before Christmas. He has refused but Justin has managed to talk him into it.
Now they are waiting for Justin's flight to be allowed check-in, and all Brian wants is a cigarette. And for Justin to stay. He doesn't voice either of these things.
"You sure you're okay?"
Brian snorts. "By myself? On Christmas? Best thing ever."
Justin kisses him. "Promise me you'll go to Deb's and not be alone."
"Only if you promise to call me on Christmas Eve."
"And give you a blowjob over the phone? Done."

Red Light
Brian downs his third drink at the bar at Babylon. The lights are flickering around him but he doesn't pay attention to it. The beat of the music also goes unnoticed.
In all these years, Brian has been loathing the holiday season for various reasons. After last winter's disaster, he had assumed it couldn't get any worse. Now that he had actually made plans – highly important plans – everything just seems to fall apart.
What if this is a sign? What if they are just not supposed to be together, to be married - even if it's just for them.

Murphy's Law
"Want to talk about it?" Emmett appears beside Brian, a Cosmopolitan in his hand. He looks sickeningly sympathetic.
"No."
"You should."
"No."
"That's why you should have told him instead of trying to surprise him. It was bound to backfire."
"Save the lecture, Honeycutt."
"Don't call me Honeycutt."
Brian remains quiet for a long moment. Emmett is not to blame. If anything, he is right. Brian should have told Justin about his plans. Someone even more cynical than him would think he doesn't want to get married after all.
"Come on, Mopey Pants." Emmett grabs his hand. "Let's go dancing."
