I don't get it. [Nov. 16th, 2007|11:53 pm]

After watching and rewatching all 5 seasons of QAF I think I get all of the sex jokes now. They no longer go flying over my innocent little head like they did the first time I watched the show. These days I get most of the dyke jokes too and on those rare occasions when I don't I just assume (for my own self preservation) that I'd be better off not knowing. I understand some of the literary/historical/biblical/operatic references on my own, but whenever I don't I just wikipedia them and become enlightened.

The problem is, I don't get ANY of the Jewish stuff. Mel is always saying things in Hebrew (is it Hebrew?) and I'm like wtf does that mean? I know what a bris is now and obviously I get the references to the holocaust (pink triangles, etc.), but I feel like there are a lot of other Jewish things that I'm just not getting... and this bothers me.

I can't rewatch an episode to help me figure out what the joke/reference is about, I don't want to just ignore it, and I can't wikipedia anything because I have no idea how to spell things like "k-nuh whore-uh" (that's my amazing phonetic spelling if you couldn't tell).

Please! Someone! Anyone! Teach me!

(Since Mel is the Jew I had to use an icon of her... forgive me, this is the only one I have of just her!)
