I'll make this quick and point me in the right direction if this has already been discussed:
Where the heck was Justin in 513 when everyone else was saying goodbye to Lindsay, Melanie and the kids? It just seems strange to me that he wouldn't be there.

You just HAD to ask that, didn't you?? lol

See, after reading a lot of the responses, I'm actually more inclined to go with your answer. I think he said his goodbyes to the girls in his own way, and the dads came to send them off (I'm thinking Ben was brought along by Michael asking). And he, unlike any of the rest of them, needed to say goodbye to Daphne, Molly and Jen so that he'd also have enough time to have hot!farewell!sex with Brian before he left :)

Who all was there?

I can't remember! Was it just Michael, Brian, and Debbie? In that case maybe it was blood relatives only. Or was Ben there too?

Personally, I hope Justin was busy making a Lindsay doll to stick voodoo pins in or hang in effigy. By that point, Lindsay was just a tour guide for Brian's guilt trips.

LOL voodoo doll.

You actually had my first reaction, maybe blood relatives?
But Ben was there - it was Michael, Brian, Debbie and Ben seeing them off.

But see, the first Babylon scene had Em, Ted, Michael and Brian. So did the last scene. Forget that the spouses were there. It's better for your mental health.

Besides, Justin was finishing up hanging paintings for his first show. Yep, that's my story and I'm sticking with it!

I believe so. You need to ask Bunny or someone who watched during the original airing. I only read a few articles afterwards, including the infamous Shawn Postoff one. Trust me, DON'T READ IT.

Yeah, yeah, I understand that full circle theory and I would have bought it hook, line & sinker except for the spouses. I didn't need happily ever after, just a little more consistency.

Justin had already said goodbye to the girls and the kids. Brian asked him not to go to the last goodbye, because Brian didn't want to worry about Justin crying and having to control himself. Brian probably didn't say those exact words, but something like, "No twats allowed to the goodbye." But Justin understood and had necessary supplies waiting for him at home.

LOL. In view of Bunny's rant just now, I feel compelled to distance myself from the "crying" bit of the scenario :D (Of course he's not a crying girl - we know that!) But I imagined Brian wanting to come home to Justin after it all and just decompressing, and that Justin would get that. I figure Justin was probably busy doing his own pre-New York stuff, and said his goodbyes to Mel, Lindsay, and the kids already.

ROFL...now I see what you mean.

If I had seen this, I just would have just commented. ;)

Brian would have let Justin make his own decisions about when to say good-bye to the girls and I think that Justin probably did it on his own time since he had to get stuff ready for NY. ;)

Ah...well, you'd have to read [info]vamphile's brilliantly cracky Superstar, followed by Visisble. Then, onto this equally crack story that I wrote for a challenge using fangirl!hating!Justin. Then you'll understand. The fangirl parts come in Visible, and they are...it's crack at its finest.

Really, I agree. But then I couldn't have written, "No twats allowed." It's kind of weird Justin wasn't there, just like it was kind of weird the girls were there for his prom night. These people are all up in each other's lives.

LOL...but, I don't think it's weird at all. I think he and the girls have their own relationship that doesn't really include Brian and that's likewise why I don't think it's weird that they were there for the prom. The girls love him. ;)

I guess we just hadn't seen that in a really long while. Not that he shouldn't have been there, or should have been there. Ted and Emmett weren't there either, so I guess it was just a family goodbye.

Brian letting Justin be himself is one of the most beautiful things about the love for me. One of the best examples I can think of is after Vic dies, Justin does what's best for him and goes back to the house. I also love how in season 3 both the girls and Deb let Justin know he was a part of their lives regardless of Brian. And how he KNOWS that so well that in season five, he visits the girls after he gets back from LA.

I love them so!

Sometimes I think that Brian is the most mature one of the bunch: he doesn't try to change Justin or try to make Justin happy (because happiness can only come from within, but Brian does thoughtful things for Justin).

That's true, and we know Ted and Emmett had their own relationship with Lindsay and Melanie. Em put on their wedding and they trusted Ted with the college fund money, so they must have all done their goodbyes in their own time - with the dads wanting to see their kids right up until the last minute.

I agree that he and the girls have their own special relationship. He may associate them first off as "Brian's lesbians" to Daphne, but when he spends time with them, you see that relationship develop independently of his relationship with Brian - which we see when (1) they are probably the first people he calls and they give him a place to stay while Brian is dealing with Hotlanta (2) There for prom (3) His 19th birthday (although that brought on Ian *shudders*) (4) During the S3 breakup, they make sure to tell him he's still a part of their lives ... and so on and so on.

I guess he just said goodbye to them in their own way. I think I'm inclined to say, given all this insight, I'm leaning toward the idea that he made a point to go over at some point to say his goodbyes before they packed up the car, and just let Brian do his thing when he needed to say goodbye to one of his best friends and his son.
He's attached to Gus and the kids, just like Ben is attached to them (in a non-blood-relation, partner-is-a-father, cares-about-them way). But Michael and Ben are the more "couple-y" couple anyway, and I feel like Ben might have almost been hesitant to go but Michael asked/told him to come along, while Justin knew Brian might need his space to deal with the departure in his own way. Plus, he did need to say goodbye to Daphne and his mother but still leave time for hot!farewell!sex with Brian before leaving for NY.

I don't think Brian asked him to stay. I think it was one of those things Justin decided.

Agree. Just like Emmett. Justin is their baby, too.

Again agree. It’s like letting Brian and Michael have their “moments” with the mothers of their children and their children, of course. I believe that Justin would not let them leave without saying his proper goodbye. I believe he would have discussed with them, how to maintain contact and update each other. He loves Gus. Maybe, he would have played with him before saying his goodbye, reminded him to not forget him, tell him how much he loves him, etc. He loves the girls. There would be lots of hugs and kisses (I am getting teary eyed right now... shucks!!) He will do it his way, his own time. He gave them “going away” presents right. He was there to help them pack. I am not sure if the others (any of the gang) did their share to help. Brian was there to visit Gus one time, but I am not sure if he helped out. Anyway, you can actually ignore my ramblings now…

Plus, he did need to say goodbye to Daphne and his mother but still leave time for hot!farewell!sex with Brian before leaving for NY.

I totally agree again! LOL!

I don't think Brian asked him to stay. I think it was one of those things Justin decided.

They are able to read each other that well. Again.. agree! Wow, I am in a very agreeable mode today LOL. Just like when he tried to help patch things up between Brian and Michael, Justin is sensitive to Brian like that. “He misses him”. Just like the decision not to tell Brian about what he did with Kip. When they did the fundraising for the concerned citizens.. I am not sure I am making sense right now *toink* He sort of know when to be quiet and just stay in the background. SUN now… or else these ramblings will not stop.

Yes yes yes. I'm going to agree with your agreement :)
I can see this all. There's no way he would have let them leave with out saying his goodbyes. Even Justin mentions, he was there the night Gus was born; he named him. He loves that family too much to let them take off without so much as a goodbye.
