Who: Carrie and Kimber
From: UtR
By: Krys
Note: So Jack had this idea and it gave me brain images. This isn't really finished. There might be more of this later. Maybe not.
- Six Weeks -
Two sets of wide eyes were staring at twin plus signs. Carrie wasn't exactly sure if five seconds or five hours had passed before she spoke. "That's... I'm seeing this right, right?" She moaned quietly. "Oh God."
Sensing Carrie's tension, Kimber was fighting for composure. She couldn't squee just yet, she knew. Even though she was already planning out her future as a cool aunt, she forced the smile off her face. "Plus sign means..." She fought to keep her voice flat.
"Means I'm pregnant."
"Yeah. Pregnant."
The silence stretched. Kimber rose from her spot on the floor and stood, watching Carrie stare at the pregnancy tests in disbelief. Kimber was tempted to tell her that the results weren't going to change, that the little plus sign wasn't going to suddenly erase itself, but held it back. She was scared that might set Carrie off. Kimber's conscience wouldn't allow her to fight with a pregnant lady.
"I was just... it's... we had sex three times while I was off the pill! And we used a condom every time!" There was an edge of panic in Carrie's voice. "I am suing someone. I am going to go home and sue a condom company."
"Like you really need more money."
Carrie looked away from the tests long enough to glare in Kimber's direction. "I... oh shit. What am I going to do?"
"You're going to have a baby with your husband, the one you're crazy in love with. You'll name me the Godmother and we will dress your little girl," Kimber had decided suddenly that Carrie was carrying a girl, "in the most outrageous little dresses, which I will buy if you don't. And things will be okay."
Somewhere in the middle of this little speech, Carrie had buried her face in her hands. She wasn't crying. She was hiding.
"I'm too young to have a kid!" Carrie's voice was a little squeak.
"You're twenty-four."
"I'm pregnant." It was a whine now.
"You're pregnant."
"I didn't really want to get pregnant. I'm not ready. We didn't plan this!" A thought suddenly struck her. "I won't be able to fight for nine months. Kimber, please kill me. I will take it as a kindness." Never mind the fact that she'd have to take care of a human being for the rest of her life. Carrie wasn't ready to think that far ahead.
"Oh, you big baby."
"My vagina! It will never be the same. Have you seen a birthing video? I have. It's like watching someone push a watermelon through a hole the size of a lemon. I can't take that. I like my vagina the way it is!"
Kimber only faintly blushed, her cartoon origins not completely forgotten even after all this time. "You'll heal." There was a hint of amusement in her voice.
"Or my vagina will never be the same, my sex life will end, and I will be miserable and carrying a bawling little bundle of annoyance around with me everywhere."
"Carrie." Kimber took a deep breath. It was hard being patient sometimes. "I'm sure Dick will carry it around half the time."
"Kimber." Carrie set the pregnancy tests aside. "I'm pregnant." She said it the same way one might say they had a life threatening disease. Or a tumor. Carrie considered this for a half second. There was a foreign body growing inside her. Tumor. That could be a good pet name: my little tumor.
Kimber couldn't hold it back anymore. She grinned and fell to her knees, wrapping her arms tightly around Carrie. "Congratulations, mommy." Kimber heard Carrie whine as she planted a messy kiss on Carrie's temple. "This is going to be so much fun!"
"Says you. You don't have to carry this... thing."
"That makes it all the more fun."
"Right." A pause. "Also, if you call me mommy again, I will kill you to death."
