In The Hallways WHO: Open thread. WHAT: Plaguing, talking, patrolling. WHEN: May 13th, after the last class of the day. WHERE: School hallways.
This afternoon Tsuchi had started his patrol from the roof. But it had been uneventful that day, driving him further down into the school and patrolling the hallways between classes, making him tired with boredom. He smoothed down his trousers, rolled up his armband and kept his hands underneath his sleeves. A second distraction was found in the company of his friend too, so he was walking with a greater spring in his step than he would have been. By now the two were talking about making him catch up on his soap operas, and he was being tested in remembering details faster than his mind could think.
That moment a sound like an alarm burst into life around the hallways. Students flowed out of their classrooms in such volume and frequency that Tsuchi was almost swamped by it all. And people carried on pacing away from him, pairing together and happily moving around people that came the other way as they talked.
Now he felt a bit more content. The end-of-day bell was a relief for him too. Not that he could necessarily breathe in this environment. He stepped away from three people coming his way and pulled one aside to have words; someone who had almost managed to trample them over. The situation was resolved. Inside, he was struggling. "Er - I still think I could have handled that better. Wasn't this supposed to get easier?"
