Clearing his throat as Nicole told him that she appreciated his honesty, Jason nodded slowly. He felt like the world's biggest asshole, and he was positive that feeling wasn't going to go away anytime soon. He hurt her pretty badly, it sucked. It wasn't even like he meant to do it, either ... it was completely by accident. Jason had no way of knowing if they would work out, had he not ran into and started spending time with Kate again, but he didn't want to think about that. It wasn't anyone's fault but his own dumb self.
Nodding as she told him that she'd get his stuff back to him, Jason was tempted to tell her that she didn't have to. But he was certain that it was more for her than for him ... she probably wanted to just get rid of it, she didn't want it anymore. And he couldn't blame her for that - he had probably just broken her heart. Not that Jason thought that highly of himself that he'd be able to break someone's heart, but it was just the way things went. He'd had his heart broken before - he knew what it felt like. And he hated that he was putting Nicole through that.
Swallowing, Jason hugged her back as she hugged him, closing his eyes. "I really am sorry," he said again, glancing down at her as she pulled away. He used his hand to wipe away more of her tears, really hating that he put them there. Watching as she moved around him, Jason reached a hand up and ran it through his hair, turning to grab his keys off the counter and then follow her towards the front door. "I'll try to. You take care of yourself too, okay?" he said, leaning in to give her a kiss on the forehead. He rolled his lips into his mouth and then leaned in to give her a last kiss on the lips. It was a very quick peck on the lips, that's all. Jason stood back up and touched her cheek for a moment, then sighed. "Bye," he said softly, before moving to walk out the door and towards his car.
