Who: Kate and Jamie
Where: Jamie’s apartment on campus
When: Early evening
What: Study time! Or, attempting to study.

Kate was not looking forward to another full week of school, and her Monday classes confirmed how craptastic the week was going to be. She had just managed to get caught up on her work for Monday to be piled with more homework, assignments and readings that needed to be done. As much as Kate hated doing homework, she had gotten back into her school mode and wanted to get on top of it before she fell too far behind. Plus, she still needed to set time away to meet up with Nicole for her portfolio so she wanted to make sure that she would have the time to do that as well. Kate only had a few weeks available to work with Nicole, and the project she had been assigned to was a big one so Kate needed to take advantage of the time she got. Kate was just glad that Nicole was a nice girl, it looked like the two of them were going to have no problem working together and getting along. Plus, Nicole had said that she could meet with her boyfriend who was a photographer, so Kate thought that she could get some great tips and help from him if she needed it.

Once Kate got out of class she went straight back to her dorm to grab a bit to eat and get working on her homework. She was alone in her dorm at first so she tired to take advantage of that and get some of her assigned reading done. Unfortunately Kate’s place didn’t stay empty for long and Kate’s room mate came home, bringing some of her friends with her. Kate did her best to ignore the extra noise but soon enough she was getting annoyed with it, and even her music couldn’t drown out the noise. Kate then packed up her books, putting some in a Dickies back pack and deciding to hold the rest and tried to think of a place that she could study where it would be quiet. Kate didn’t want to go to the main library, she thought it smelt funny and it could sometimes be a little too quiet there. After thinking of all of the possible places and not wanting to go to any of them Kate finally decided she would go to Jamie’s apartment. She knew that he would be home and probably doing homework himself, plus she missed him and wanted to hang out so why not kill two birds with one stone?

After slinging her back pack over her shoulder and shoving her feet into her runners Kate headed out of her dorm, saying bye to her room mate and her friends, and then started to walk towards Jamie’s place. Jamie lived in an on campus apartment so it didn’t take Kate too long to get there. She didn’t bother calling him because she was positive he would be home and glad to see her. Well, she hoped he would be glad to see her. Kate had no idea if his room mates would be home or not, but if they were then the two of them could just head to Jamie’s room. Once Kate arrived at Jamie’s place she knocked on the door and waited for him to answer. It didn’t take long for Jamie to answer the door and Kate greeted him with a smile and shoved the books that she was holding into his chest. “Hey, my room mate and her friends were being kind of loud so I am just going to study here, k?” Kate said, pushing past him to get inside without waiting for an answer. Kate had been to Jamie’s place so often that it was starting to feel like a second home to her.

Studying and doin homework was something that Jamie never liked to do. His first year in college, he never did any of it, devoting his time to partying instead. But that quickly came to an end when he was told by a professor that if he didn't buckle down and start doing some work in the class, he was going to fail the class. So, Jamie started doing his homework and studying more often, which made things so much easier on him, even though he hated doing it. And, looking on the positive side of things, he only had to do it for another year, and he was done. That was his only saving grace.

Even though his friends had invited him out for some fun that night, Jamie opted to stay home and get on top of some homework before it became overwhelming. He didn't want to get behind and then fuck everything up to the point where he could never go out, and so he wanted to stay on top of things while he still had the opportnity to. With school just starting, it would be somewhat easy to start the routine again. At least, that's what he was telling himself. So, finally putting the procrastinations aside, Jamie sat down at his desk in his bedroom and opened one of his text books. As soon as he started reading the information on the page, there was a knock at the door. "You've got to be fucking kidding me," he murmered, standing up and making his way to the door.

Pulling it open, he was surprised to see Kate standing there. He smiled. "Kate, hey --" he started, but was cut off and let out an 'oomph' noise as Kate thrust her books into his chest and then walked past him. Closing the door as he listened to her explanation as to why she was there, Jamie smiled. "Yeah, sure. Please, won't you come in?" he rolled his eyes, turning to look at her and then shook his head. "I'm surprised you didn't just walk into the apartment without knocking, with as often as you come here," he said, moving further into the apartment and setting her books down on a table, resting his hand on that table and raising a brow at her. "So, studying, eh?" he smirked. "It wouldn't be anatomy that you're studying, would it?" he joked.

Luckily for Kate she had never really gotten into the habit of not doing her homework or getting too behind in her classes. During her first year at Brown it did take a few weeks for her to get into a routine, which was understandable considering she had just spent and entire year working on an island resort and not having school at all, but once she started her classes it didn’t take long for Kate’s old habits from high school to kick in. Plus, looking at her tuition costs and how much it took to get her into Brown was enough incentive for Kate to make sure she worked her ass off in her classes. She didn’t know what she would do if she flunked out and wasted all of that hard work and money. Kate wasn’t looking forward to more then two years of school a head of her, but knowing that the farther she went along the more interesting her classes would be getting was something that helped lift her spirits.

Kate walked right into Jamie’s apartment and dropped her back pack on the floor, giving her shoulders a rub and smiling at her boyfriend’s comment. The two of them had been dating for about five or so months now, so she was pretty comfortable with him and his apartment. She was pretty sure that if she really wanted to she could just walk into his place and no one would have a problem. Kate had even gotten to know Jamie’s room mates over the months since the two of them started officially dating. “I might start doing that, it will save me the time of waiting for you to come to the door.” Kate joked with a grin.

The relationship that Kate and Jamie had certainly didn’t lack in the physical department, and Kate liked that a lot. The two of them had technically first got together through what was originally a one night stand, so their relationship did kind of have a jump start compared to other peoples. Kate put a hand on her hip and grinned at Jamie again, considering how much more fun ‘studying anatomy’ would be then her visual arts homework. “Well, that certainly might be something to consider since it would be something that we can do together.” Kate replied, only half joking. There was no denying that Kate got easily distracted from her homework, especially when it came to Jamie.

Jamie snickered and shook his head. “So impatient,” he said in response to her comment about having to wait for him to open the door. “I don’t know why you’re so impatient. It takes you forever to answer your door, yet you don’t see me just waltzing right into your dorm room, do you?” he asked, raising a brow. He smiled, shaking his head. His girlfriend was definitely a different kind of girl, but that was one of the things that attracted him to her in the first place. She was sweet and nice, sure. But she also had this take-no-bullshit side that Jamie liked. She would call him out on his bullshit faster than he could even come up with the bullshit to say.

Jamie and Kate’s relationship started out based on sex, completely. They were supposed to just be a one-night-stand, kind of just a hook-up, set up by friends. So the sex part of their relationship never had problems. They didn’t have that awkward waiting period beforehand where they wondered if it was time to introduce sex into the relationship, since they had already gone there. And Jamie thought the sex was pretty fantastic, truthfully. He wasn’t complaining at all. Laughing as she talked more about studying anatomy, Jamie nodded. “Of course we’d study it together,” he said, reaching his arm out and grabbing ahold of her arm, pulling her closer to him. “Though, I think I know your anatomy really well, I don’t think I have to study it,” he told her, before kissing her.

He pulled away after a moment and shook his head, giving her a smile. He didn’t push her away, though. “You, woman, are going to make me fail. I was supposed to be studying tonight, too. But now that you showed up, all I can think about is you,” he laughed, shaking his head. “You are a bad, bad influence,” he teased, letting his hands drop from her sides and then moving away from her to walk towards the kitchen. “You want anything to drink?” he called over his shoulder, opening the fridge.

Kate grinned at Jamie and couldn’t help but laugh a bit at the thought of him walking into her dorm room without knocking on the door. “Well, I wouldn’t mind you just walking in to my dorm, but I don’t know how my room mate will feel about that. Your luck you would walk in right when she is in the open changing or something.” Kate commented. She couldn’t care less if Jamie walked in on her changing, he had seen her completely naked many times before, but she doubted her room mate would appreciate it at all no matter how funny Kate thought it would be.

Jamie wasn’t alone in his feelings about their sex life. Kate thought it was great too, which was probably why the two of them were busy doing it a lot. Their relationship wasn’t based just on the sex, Kate really did like Jamie a lot and the two of them got along really well, but it definitely was a part of it. The fact that the two of them had been dating since about April really did show that Kate must of liked Jamie a lot since Kate usually freaked herself out about any boy after two or so months and would end up finding some excuse to end the relationship. Well, except for her one exception but Kate wasn’t going to think about him while she was with Jamie. Kate had been trying to not think about him at all, and it worked on some days but certainly not on others. Kate let Jamie pull her closer to him and she slid her hand up his arm, grinning at him when he spoke. “Oh yeah? Well, extra studying won’t hurt and I am pretty sure I can make it worth your while,” Kate said back before returning Jamie’s kiss.

The next comment that Jamie made put a smile on Kate’s face, she didn’t like the idea of taking away some of Jamie’s study time, but she did like the idea that she was on his mind all of the time. Kate really should of known better, Jamie’s apartment wasn’t the best place to go when you were trying to study. Kate followed Jamie into the kitchen, running a hand through her hair. “No thank you, I chugged a whack load of chocolate milk not long before I came over here,” Kate said, patting her stomach as she said it. Kate then grinned again and stepped closer to Jamie. “And by the way, I am not that bad of an influence. I can always help you study. You know, ask you questions from one of your text books and do something a little special if you get the question right.” What Kate was pretty much getting at was removal of clothing for every question Jamie got right. Kate was sure she would deliberately give him easy questions and she was also pretty sure that the studying wouldn’t last long, but at least they attempted to do something, right?
