To say that Jamie didn't see this coming would have been a lie. But the fact that Kate was breaking up with him to go back to Jason (or so Jamie assumed) was the last thing that he expected to happen that night. After the dinner celebrating his newly acquired shadowing position at the Providence Police Department, Jamie had gone back to Kate's dorm with her, so the two of them could spend some time together. They hadn't seen much of each other lately, both of them were involved in school and job shadowing and it was a lot of stuff to take in, but he just wished they could make some time for themselves. Which is what he thought tonight would be. But before anything could happen between the two of them, Kate told him that she was still in love with Jason, and then broke up with him.
Jamie left her dorm right away, not exactly sure how to take that news. It was a little fucked up, but Jamie should have known. From the way Kate talked about Jason, and the way the two of them interacted on the journals, their relationship had been one that nobody stood a chance against. Which was all fine and dandy, but it left Jamie feeling pretty shitty. Just driving around with no real destination in mind, Jamie looked up at the building he had ended up in front of. Scratching the side of his head, Jamie decided to stop by and see if Nic was still awake. It was, after all, almost 2am ... she very well could have been sleeping. Oh well, he'd try his luck.
Getting out of the car, he made his way inside, going up to her door and knocking a few times. He didn't hear anything, so he knocked again. Just as he was about to give up and go home, Jamie heard the door open and he turned to look back at it, seeing Nic at the door. Clearing his throat, Jamie gave her a small forced smile and shrugged. "Sorry, I know it's late. I just ... I didn't want to go home yet, and I'm not quite sure why I ended up here, but I did. You don't mind, do you?" he asked, shoving his hands into his pockets.
