Benji knew Tia would never want to get in the way of his work. She was much too selfless for that. Which was why he was the one who had to find the will to tear himself away from his lab. She did need him after all, and he needed her just as much. He breathed slightly when her lips were upon his, returning her kiss gently, as if she was a porcelain doll who could break at the lightest touch. "I should have been here hours ago," he replied, thumbing her cheek softly, "I have failed you, my Queen." Right, so maybe, he was being a little dramatic about it all, but he did actually feel bad about not coming sooner.
And while, yes, they did seem to have all the time in the world, it wasn't certain. Anything could happen that could tear them all apart, and that was the last thing he wanted. "Besides, isn't there a saying that encourages you to dance like no one is watching, love like you'll never be hurt, sing like no one is listening and live like it's heaven on earth? We may as well take advantage of that." He easily followed her to the bed, taking the spot beside her despite not being tired enough to rest. "Oh, you know.... the fossil fuel crisis and whatnot. Natural resources aren't to last much longer. There needs to be some other form of fuel for the mortals, and there needs to be someone intelligent enough to create it." He tapped his head at this. "How else will us vampires stay alive if all the humans die out?"
