oooo! I spoke to a web-savy gentleman this afternoon regarding our calendar embedding issues. Some experimenting shows that not only does the Lj/Ij website code not support the required < iframe > tag, but it actually deletes any attempts to post it. Not just "bad mark-up: error, blah blah blah." If you check the source code of the page, the journal software just removes those tags and anything between them completely.
Therefore, tonight, after I've got tomorrow's comic strip and another project wrapped up, I'll put together a 'Calendar' graphic that can stand in and serve as an eye-catching link directly to the calendar that won't embed.
What else other than the calendar (and filling the calendar with con dates), would we be waiting for before we announce this community to the world? its_art was talking about an exhaustive cons list. Would that go into our User Info or just in a post that gets linked to for eternal reference from somewhere on the journal layout? And did you want to have a custom graphic for the community header? (I do like the wave and birds, I just didn't know if you'd want some blue-line con tables or name badges or some mascot walrus or something.) Am I forgetting anything else?
