Genre: General
Pairing: Sokka x Yue
Summary: On the night of a full moon, Sokka seeks forgiveness.
Prompt: Sokka - forgive
Author Notes: I thought of the episodes of the Northern Water Tribe when this prompt was delivered to me and instantly thought of Sokka and Yue. I felt so sorry for him then and they never really elaborated further upon how he either grieved or shook it off. I wanted to do something for him. At least for once. :D
Forgive Me, Moon
by Suseh
Standing upon the cliffs with the fullest and largest moon looming above, Sokka dropped to his knees and bowed his head in hopes of gaining the attention of the moon's reincarnated spirit. It had been a month since the battle against Admiral Zhao and his Firebending army at the Northern Water Tribe where it's Princess had sacrificed herself to give back the life to one of the spirits of the moon.
Sokka had been against Yue's decision to hand back the life given to her in the beginning and had protested quite loudly against it but in the end, he could only watch helplessly from the sidelines as Yue took her first steps towards fulfilling her own destiny.
"Goodbye, Sokka. I will always be with you.", she had told him before leaning forward and sharing one final kiss with the boy she had wished more than anything to have shared more of her life with and faded from the mortal plane.
Since then, Sokka had blamed himself for her death. He believed he could have done more - said more to change Yue's destiny. In that brief moment, he wished that he had the abilities like Aang and his sister. Both of them powerful in their own right; and perhaps if he had the same abilities, he could have done more.
"I'm sorry," he sobbed softly almost inaudible. His voice cracked with emotion that had been locked up for so long, "I'm sorry I couldn't save you."
The Moon's light scintillated brightly and a figure appeared within it. A beautiful young woman with long white flowing hair done up in the traditional way of her former life and eyes the bluest shade of aquamarine. Around her the air moved about her even if it was still below.
"I forgive you, Sokka," she told him. "I have always forgiven you. It was my choice and I am sorry if I have hurt you in turn."
The bright light faded leaving Sokka alone once more with the moon.
