Because everyone knows that the lives of the rich and famous are far more interesting than anything else. In this community, that's exactly what will be played out. It's the lives of the rich and the famous- the good, the bad, and the ugly. The idea is simple. Just create a character that is a celebrity in some way- an actor, singer, author, photographer, etc... You've seen a tabloid! You get the point!
