King Robert Baratheon and his Hand, Lord Eddard Stark are dead and the longest summer in history is at an end. War rages in the South over the Iron Throne and the Wall has crumbled under an attack from the turncloak king, Mance Rayder. Wildlings and much worse march South as the days grow shorter and colder, and the old gods and the new only know what the long night will bring. The Starks are always right in the end:
