Currently Casting | Casting Studio | Application | Rules | Darkness Rising RPG Community

"….Voldemort's powerful now. You don't know who his supporters are, you don't know who's working for him and who isn't; you know he can control people so that they do terrible things without being able stop themselves. You're scared for yourself, and your family, and your friends. Every week, news comes of more deaths, more disappearances, more torturing … The Ministry of Magic's in disarray, they don't know what to do, they're trying to keep everything hidden from the Muggles, but meanwhile, Muggles are dying too. Terror everywhere … panic … confusion …"

Across Europe the Wizarding Community lies in fear. Voldemort and his followers are on the rise, leaving behind a reign of terror in their wake. As his numbers increase, Wizards begins to grow more uneasy, increasingly choosing to fall prey to his Empire, out of fear, unwilling to stand up and fight.

In spite of the increasing danger, a small group of vigilante Wizards has begun to pull ranks, daring to do what the Ministry fears to do; fight. The Order of the Phoenix is slowly growing into a force to be reckoned with, threatening not only Voldemort, but the Ministry itself.

Change is on the brink and the students of Hogwarts. No longer will they be safe behind the confines of the castle, unaware to the real dangers of the world. They will soon be forced to make their own loyalties known; a decision that will affect not only the rest of their lives, but the entire Wizarding World.

Amongst the darkness, these students are potentially the light needed to give the Order the man power to take on Voldemort’s forces. As both sides fight to gain support, one question lies: which side do you choose?

It is 1977. At the turn of the new year a group called the Death Eaters entered a London club and massacred two hundred and seventeen muggles and wizards alike. They left a green symbol shining in the night sky as a marker and a message-- Blood Purity; Take Back the Stolen Right.

The atmosphere has thickened. What was once a carefree time for a group of teenagers at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry is now a time of fear and uncertainty. Those who plan to join the ministry have to reconsider what they will be signing up for.

Ex Machina RP - a futuristic sci-fi RP on Inksome [28 Jan 2009|01:57pm]
PREMISE
In 2015, Valley Dynamics, a renowned global technological giant, developed bio-mechanical androids called NeohumansTM. They were hailed as a breakthrough in artificial intelligence and the next generation in computer technology, NeohumansTM became available to anyone who could afford them at the time.

Unknown to the public, around the same time that NeohumansTM were being developed, Valley Dynamics was also working on a more subtle version of bio-mechanical androids called Facsimiles that can blend seamlessly into the general population.

Now in 2020, whether it be from outside influence or internal, NeohumansTM and Facsimiles alike are experiencing glitches in their programming. Only a small number of cases have occurred so far, just small things that Valley Dynamics have managed to take care of one way or another. But something bigger is coming and no one, not even those at Valley Dynamics, knows what it is, when it will happen, and least of all why.

All info can be found at our website and the mod journal.

Are you tired of the same old Harry Potter Role Plays? Are Harry and his fellow classmates losing their edge? Not interested in Next Generation? Want something that isn't in the books?
PREMISE | GUIDELINES | CHARACTERS | APPLICATION | CAST LIST
It has been fourteen years since the menacing influence of He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named has been felt, but the memory will never truly fade. Harry Potter and his fellow classmates left Hogwarts victorious, but at a great cost did they do so. Large portions of Hogwarts lay crumbling around them. Friends and families mourned the premature passing of loved ones. The Wizarding world did not escape the clutches of Voldemort unscathed.

Every child born during the postwar population boom knows the stories of the war. They know the trials faced by the heroic Order of the Phoenix and they're familiar with the brooding faces of the villains, but it isn't the parents who pass on this knowledge, for many of them are unwilling to relive the memories. A few brave souls have shared their own experiences and knowledge while the remainder of the survivors stubbornly cling to the hope that they will forget, no matter how tightly memory holds them.

As September looms ever closer, a new year at Hogwarts lingers on the horizon, but this isn't just another year. With the final examinations in June, Hogwarts will be releasing it's first graduating class since it reopened in 2003. It is this class that has had the privilege of experiencing a new Hogwarts; one that no longer has a shadow forever hanging above it. This year celebrates seven complete years of laughter, knowledge, and, most importantly, hope. This sense of celebration and excitement hovers over the students as they ready for the school year, and it will surely be packed alongside the cauldrons and rolls of parchment to be brought back to Hogwarts.

The question that seems to be drawing a lot of attention from the older generation is whether or not the good times really do last? Will the atmosphere at Hogwarts remain unchanged or will History repeat itself, as it so often does?

The town of Shelby, California has been around since the mid-18oo’s, back when Gold Rush fever was spreading like wildfire throughout the country. It’s relative closeness to the San Bernardino mountains made it a choice locale for miners and those seeking to start a new life. Twice it spat in the face of Fate. Twice it rose from complete destruction to become something great, something that would be a part of American history forever.

Present day, 2009. The years have not been kind to Shelby. Though it is a popular tourist attraction, the town has rebelled against every attempt to restore it to its former glory. How can a town rebel, you ask? It’s a controversial question, to be sure.

Psychics have reported that hundreds of restless spirits walk the streets and linger in the old buildings. Mr. Victor Shelby, a direct descendant of the town’s very first major and current owner of the place, has spent the last few years trying to track down the descendants of Shelby’s former inhabitants. The ones who responded and didn’t think him to be a crazy loon accepted the invitation (and the generous sum of money offered) to come to Shelby and attempt to communicate with the spirits. The project even garnered the attention of a popular ghost hunting television series, who expressed interest in wanting to film a documentary. For two and a half weeks the research team and the descendants would investigate the hauntings.

From the creators who brought you Old West RP, we invite you to once again venture into this fictional town. The first leg of the storyline will run from February 1, 2009 to April 1, 2009. After that, all game wide plots will be decided upon by the players. For the beginning of the game, there will be a close-off deadline for accepting applications. We will be accepting applications up until February 21, 2009, which will last up until April 1, 2009, when the second leg of our storyline is decided upon. After that there shouldn’t be any need for closing off acceptance of applications.

Whether you come as a descendant, a researcher, or even a ghost, we hope you will enjoy your adventure. This is your Haunted Legacy.

THE GAME WILL OPEN ON FEBRUARY 1, 2009.
WE ARE ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS.
