This morning had been one giant clusterfuck. At the crack of dawn, which was anything before noon, she was startled awake by a loud noise. She’d thrown off the blankets and instinctively shifted into a wolf, going into protective and offensive mode all at once, snarling and taking a step back towards V as her eyes darted this way and that, sinking low on her haunches and ready to spring at whatever had just invaded their cabin. It took a second for her brain to catch up and realize the noise was just music blaring and not a personal space invasion. She sat up with a snort of a sigh before shifting back. “Please tell me this week isn’t going to be a repeat of constant noise until we all go batshit from exhaustion.” A look out the window told her that was definitely not the only thing to worry about this week. Were those fucking dinosaurs? Without Linc exploration was already going to be more difficult; now it might be closer to impossible depending on how many things were bitey out there. At least most of the ones nearest them didn’t look all that big and she’d probably be able to eat them if fifty of them didn’t run at her at once. A panther or wolf seemed bigger than some or at least a little close to the same size and she could definitely fly over them in general if she went that route every time she left the cabin. Would be a bit tedious carrying clothes for another whole week like she’d had to at one point but better than being mauled. A game plan later and she was going to take her usual half of the dome to judge where the safe zones even were this week and if the Keep was accessible or not or if giant things were blocking the damn door again. Using a book to keep the door just barely cracked so she wouldn’t be locked out didn’t seem like the best idea but it was the only one she had. Who was to say she and V would be back at the same time and standing out there for god knew how long didn’t seem like the smartest thing either. Standing on the porch wrapped in a blanket was ridiculously hot and she was glad her usual exploration vulture form was used to high temperatures. “Alright, let’s see what’s all out there.” She mumbled to herself before she began to shrink horizontally, bones hollowing out to replace her arms with wings and the blanket fell away. She fought her way out of the blanket and gave a few small flaps of her arms to shake her feathers loose before making her way off of the porch steps and onto the ground. This shit was insane. More than usual. Really, after last week it was no surprise They’d thrown something a lot more difficult at them but had anyone expected it to be this level of fuckery? She could think about that in flight, wanting to get off the ground before she caused too much attention to herself. First stop, the Keep. While she didn’t have to worry about telling everyone there were boulders, or a complete army of vicious dinosaurs eating and stomping their way through everything in sight, this didn’t look easy for anyone else to get to. She let herself land on the bridge closest to the Eastern forest, taking a few steps to test out the sturdiness of it since she’d be able to catch herself if it fell apart. If nothing else it could at least hold a small amount. Sin could always lure a dinosaur onto it later to see exactly how heavy something could be without falling through it. She peered over the edge into the giant canyon now that she wasn’t so far in the air. Didn’t make it look any less of a long way down. Be careful on the bridge or you’ll die. Check. Sin turned to take flight again, ducking as something swooped over her head. She looked up in awe at what had to be the largest flying animal in existence. Pre-extinct existence. In general. Whatever. A few not so large were also darting here and there, some dropping down for prey, but she didn’t get long to look before the larger one swooped down again, the rush of wind knocking her through the ropes and off of the bridge entirely. She eventually caught herself and went soaring back up into the air and looking for cover before she became a fun sized snack. She crash landed just inside a cover of trees while the thing soared overhead back and forth looking to find where she’d went. Before something on the ground could eat her, she was reverting back and then changing into a replica of the thing that had tried to attack her before taking off in flight herself. Can’t eat me now, motherfucker. She tried to yell at the other Quetzalcoatlus which right now sounded like the oddest bird-yet-not-quite-noise she’d ever heard. This definitely took the cake over woman screaming as she was being brutally murdered sound she made as a fox. She took off to finish exploring the rest of her sections, noting the presence of way too many large things that said everyone needed to stay as far away from the forest and outer edges of the dome as possible. Lovely. Not only could they be eaten or smashed but they could fall into lava too trying to escape things. Exploration was over and she headed back to the cabin for a break and to think. No sooner had she gotten in the door, her phone went off where she’d left it on the bed. Sure, she was supposed to take it with her but she’d never ran into any problems flying around until now and she’d kept her word of not shifting into something and trying to invade a pack of her own kind to try and blend in again after the panther incident. Then again there’d never been screeching airplanes of mass destruction trying to swallow her either. When Sin read the words on the screen, none of that mattered. Sin threw the phone back on the bed and ran for the front door, not bothering trying to be sneaky about this shift. There was no time for it and she was going way too big. With all the commotion outside no one should really be noticing the fact she had no clothes on. Once she cleared the porch with what she hoped was enough room so she wouldn’t cave in the front part of their cabin as she expanded, Sin was shifting once more into the large flying…fuck it, it was now officially titled screeching airplane. It only took a few flaps to reach cabin six and she spotted the raptor trying to use its body as a battering ram to get inside of the cabin. And a second one joined it probably to do the same thing. While the new person didn’t exactly matter all that much save the unknown possibility of Them doling out some kind of retaliation punishment for letting them die when she could have helped, she’d be damned if it was going to get its teeth into V. It took her a minute to try and line herself up with the one posing the most threat before backing up enough to swoop down and snatch it in the talons of one foot. The other one took off before she could even try to grab at it and she let it run away since it had obviously gotten the hint. It wasn’t until she heard someone call her name that she even realized the two of them had opened the door a little bit. She didn’t exactly have the time to try and convey words right now with the raptor struggling and trying to bite and scratch at her. She took off into the air again, rising straight up with the squirming dinosaur. Oh for the love of fuck, stop it! She was screeching like mad at it but inter-species communication never worked and she just let it go so it slammed back onto the surface of the Earth and stopped moving altogether. Things were actually starting to get fun. She landed next to its body, pushing it a bit with her beak to make sure it was actually dead though with the condition it was in, it being alive would have been a miracle. She nudged it closer to the edge of the porch and turned around to make sure nothing else was going to try its luck but it seemed everything had already begun mostly clearing out of the area and giving her a wide berth. Sin scratched the bottom step with a foot giving an all clear signal and accidentally leaving deep grooves in the wood. Oops. There was another really loud warning sound in an effort to try and keep the other dinosaurs away for now before walking back towards her own cabin. Sin always wondered what it would be like to be tall but not this fucking huge. Sin went back human as she approached the porch and dashed inside, slamming the door behind her where she’d left it wide open in her hurry. Luckily nothing was moving or making noise in the cabin and she headed back to the bedroom to pick up her phone. Hahahaha enjoy being welcome wagon. PS, left you a present. Was fired off to V. He’d let her know if he needed her again; right now she needed water and to figure out the best strategy to get some food. Whenever he came back they could both outline what they’d mapped out, depending on how far he’d even got, before she sent something out to the group. Whoever wasn’t smart enough to stay inside until then deserved to get fucking eaten. |
