i want you back to me (crawford & anita)
Who: Crawford & Anita Song When: Jun 4th Where: Project Noir headquarters What: Theoretically, Schwarz is working for Anita. She goes to test that theory.
Anita didn't like Schwarz working for her. There was, of course, the upside: Schwarz was working for her, and that made something go to her head. However, it was really only part of Schwarz, and only one of them seemed inclined to do anything even vaguely useful. If Nagi could get some use out of Jenny, she would be genuinely pleased, and would tell the man so.
But Crawford. She wasn't sure if his arrogance was because he was American or because he was a precog. Probably both. She'd barely seen him since he came to Project Noir, and she was tired of having her hospitality being taken advantage of. Project Noir wasn't big enough to have dead weight; if he wanted to be here, he better do something.
He opened the door to his office before she could knock. "It took you long enough."
She tried to enter the room, but he remained where he was, blocking the entrance. She looked behind him to the mess of papers that was taking over the desk. "What are you working on?"
"None of your business."
"Of course it's my business. Your teammate is working well enough and--"
"Is he?" Crawford interrupted, thinking for a moment. "Good. We'll need that before the end."
"Mr. Crawford, certain members of the establishment may allow this sort of vagueness, but I think the two of us need some ground rules. You are not in charge here. I am."
Restraining a sigh, Crawford put a hand to his chest and bowed slightly. Not too much longer and he wouldn't have to bow before anyone again. At least Dr. Song had more sense than Mr. Takatori. "Of course, Dr. Song. And that's why I'm telling you that if you have any questions, you should start with Adal Papp--where is the money that is supposed to be going to Project Noir but Esset diverted to "elsewhere". What could possibly be more important?"
Anita didn't trust his demeanor, but she needed his information. "I was told they were canceled, not diverted."
Crawford smiled slightly. "No, Esset still has more money than they know what to do with. Well. One person in the organization thinks they know what to do with it."
She considered it for a second before nodding. "Let me know if you see anything else. You service doesn't end until I say it does."
