The Morning After the Night Before [Backdated] Who: Martine and Dan When: Early-mid morning, Sunday 15th May Where: TBD, but Martine's not at home What: Now, just because someone sees, you know, two naked people asleep in bed together, it doesn't necessarily prove sex was involved.
Martine frowned without opening her eyes. Her bedroom was far too bright for this time of morning, whatever it was.
She decided to risk an eye and slowly opened it, working carefully by the natural resistance caused by it being closed for the night. Damn, but Burmilla threw a good party. Who'd've thought the miserable old git not only liked Eurovision, but also knew how to celebrate it?
She'd certainly show up again next year. Sodding Azerbaijan. Intro sounded too much like No More I Love Yous as she'd proved by singing along.
Then again, she'd sung along with Jedward, too.
Finally used to the assault on her retina by the sun - what possessed her not to draw the curtains - she licked her lips and reached for the glass of water that always lay on her bedside table. There was nothing there. Huh. She must've forgotten to take it to bed with her.
Come to think of it, she had no memory of getting home last night. Surely she hadn't been that drunk. No... of course she hadn't. And as soon as her brain cleared itself from the not-so-much-alcohol-after-all, she'd remember ex...
... actly.
She muttered something under her breath that would have had her mother calling for smelling salts and lay back down again, both eyes now open.
Her room was far too bright because it wasn't her room.
The water wasn't there because she'd had other things on her mind instead of grabbing a late night glass of water. In fact... yep. She'd left some mints out of her jacket pocket there instead.
Oh fuck...
Slowly... VERY slowly... she reached a hand behind her, although how the sound of quiet breathing hadn't registered with her until now she had no idea.
Her hand stopped when it felt the other person in the bed next to her.
No, she really hadn't had that much to drink. Because now she remembered it all. Vividly.
"Are you awake?" she asked in a whisper, not wanting to wake him if he was still asleep. Maybe she could get to the bathroom and get washed and dressed before he was conscious.
Maybe. She brought her hand back and reached for a mint just in case.
