It was always uncomfortable when someone went missing. And by uncomfortable he meant hellish. When someone leaves you watch them go. When someone dies you grieve. When someone disappears it's a different ballgame altogether. Beth had taken off in the midst of a hallucination driven panic over her parents, alerted by her dead husband. Based off the rampant hallucinations everyone suffered during that weekend he'd assumed, at first, that the call from her dead ex was just such a hallucination. Beth would have come to eventually, either at home, at her parents, or somewhere in between. Since she hadn't been (or yet returned) home, she never made it to her parents, and he had utmost faith that she'd have made contact if she was somewhere in between (not to mention the time he'd spent scouring all the likely and unlikely places within a reasonable distance from where she started and her final destination) - he felt it was safe to assume that something more than a bad acid trip had happened. Unfortunately knowing something bad happened wasn't doing anyone much good. So the question remains, was Beth just at the wrong place at the wrong time, or was she specifically target? Was the phone call a hallucination or someone ensuring Beth went where they wanted? To what end? Why abduct Beth? The questions kept circling his mind, and he'd followed each mental path to exhaustion without any brilliant insights. Still, no matter how many times he'd gone through it all, he couldn't stop himself from going over it again looking for something he missed the first million times. So as he sat at a corner table, sipping his lager and waiting for his contact, he let his mind go over it all again.
