What just happened?
John still had his heart in his throat from seeing his father when his world spun and he found himself in a completely new environment with a suddenness that made him nauseous. It didn't feel like a side effect from time travel. At least, not anything he'd felt before.
As his vision refocused he found himself in a room utterly covered with pictures, and utterly alone. He spun, looking around, but the members of the Resistance -- his father, Derek, and the girl who looked like Cameron included -- were gone. This didn't make any sense. Was he hallucinating somehow?
The lone piece of furniture caught his eye and John cautiously approached the table, eyeing the objects on top of it. He picked up the card, brows furrowing upon seeing it was some sort of identification card. Worse yet, it had his actual name. All real information, none of it faked. He looked around the room again, expecting some sort of attack at any second. Who had brought him to this strange place and how did they know who he really was? Flipping the card over, he read the message on the back but it offered no clarity. This didn't make any sense at all.
His attention turned to the two objects mentioned, both of which he regarded warily. A bracelet that could supposedly take a person anywhere? Had to be too good to be true. Too advanced. He didn't touch it. The communicator looked like the cell phones he had gotten used to, but more advanced. So he was in the future still? But when? None of what was before him answered how he had gotten there and this didn't feel like Skynet. If Skynet 'magically' teleported him somewhere it sure as hell wouldn't be to a weird picture room. More like to an execution chamber.
He tried to take the phone apart but the case seemed fused all the way around with not even a space to replace a battery. Odd. He noticed the camera on it and made sure not to point it at himself. After pocketing the phone and the strange card John explored the room, soon becoming frustrated at the lack of an exit of any sort. Eventually his gaze returned to the bracelet still laying on the table, gleaming in the light. It appeared like if he wanted to leave the room he would be forced to put the bracelet on. He didn't like it but what choice did he have? He still needed clothes, more than his father's military jacket first and foremost. And he'd feel safer if he had a gun. John pulled the card back out of his pocket and read the message on the back again. Free to roam between worlds. Some of the pictures on the walls were labeled with places he recognized from movies and television, almost like they were travel destinations.
"This is insane," he muttered, shaking his head a little at himself. But staying in the room, blindly hoping that a door would somehow show itself, was insane too. John reached for the bracelet, looking it over for a few long minutes. He really wished he had a screwdriver handy so he could try and take it apart. Dissecting it and trying to figure out how it worked would make him feel better.
Taking a deep breath, he put the bracelet on and said a little prayer that the machines hadn't outsmarted him this time.
