Her touch drew his eyes back to her and he couldn't help the small part of him that was weary after sharing so much. They were things no one else knew that hadn't been directly involved in the events. As she spoke Adam knew she was right. Life had to have a balance. Much of the magic he knew called for some measure of balance between elements. It could just be difficult for him to remember that there was more than just the dark when he reflected on the death of his father and those final words echoed in his mind.
Adam's eyes dampened at her reassuring words, a smile at last beginning to reappear on his lips. Her arms came around him and he let out the breath he hadn't realized he'd been holding as relief rushed through him. "Thank you," he whispered, turning his head to briefly bury his face in the side of her neck as he returned the embrace. "I needed to hear that." More than he even knew until he heard the words. For once, Adam let himself relax and accept the comfort she was offering him. He was so used to needing to be on the defensive, to be strong on his own, that he almost didn't remember how.
