Were Adam the blushing type it would have been his turn to do so when she countered his words. As it was they made him flustered, his gaze dropping for the moment as he tried to collect himself. No one had ever made him feel like this before. The love he had felt for Diana, that made him loathe to try and move on from her no matter how she turned him down and made clear she was moving on with another guy, had no comparison to what he felt right now. Adam swore the feelings only became more powerful when Castiel touched him and came closer. It was almost overwhelming. Not in a negative way, like with his dark magic, but in a much more positive way that made his heart race and pushed away the self doubt and similar emotions that he most always carried with him.
"You do?" he asked, a note of confusion in his voice as he immediately looked back up. If he thought about it of course it made sense that an angel could likely pick up on dark or evil energy, but he was hardly thinking clearly at present. Her closeness distracted him for a moment and Adam lost himself staring into her eyes. Blinking, he came back to himself and bit his lower lip somewhat shyly, realizing that he had been staring. It was like he couldn't help it. The longer they were in each other's presence, the less he wanted to even think about questioning what he felt.
"I was born with dark magic," he finally said, the words coming almost unbidden. "It was only in the last year that I found out about it, that it was awakened. But I'm not... I would never hurt you." Adam wasn't the violent type to begin with but he wanted to be sure she knew she was in no danger from him. If he were to do anything it might be to strike out at someone who tried to harm her. Tentatively he raised his other hand to lightly touch her cheek, his gaze having yet to leave her face.
