Damien moved to sit down in a chair beside Merlin, listening to him sepak of himself, of the past. About how he was different. Having abilities. He imagined most wizards had to work at it, study it. But he had seen Merlin do some impressive magic already. Few words, just the focus, and things happened. Probably unique in that way. "I can't really envy that," he admitted. "To have that much danger to me, just for being different. But at least you were able Arthur and the land. It could probably have been worse if you didn't use it to help."
Damien looked back at Merlin, meeting his gaze with a light smile. "I hope you do too," he said softly, with a nod. "Being in this time and place.. it can be better. And if there's anything I can do to help out, even simple things, I'm here."
