"Why did you read it for yourself?" Marina asked, her voice low. She hadn't been feeling well since she'd read it. She couldn't stop shaking. She kept picturing the scene with Eight, and it was breaking her. That couldn't happen to him. She couldn't let it. It happened in the book, and Eight was here. Marina was really worried for him, and she couldn't even bring herself to tell him why. She hated that series, and wanted to get rid of the book. She moved to Six, and sat down by her. She didn't know what they were going to do. Marina really felt like she had something special with Eight. And she didn't want him to die. She didn't want any of them to do. How could anyone even write those cruel words? She'd lost Hector. She'd lost Adelina. And she was going to lose Eight. No, no. She wasn't. She wouldn't let that happen to him here. They knew what was coming, they could stay safe. Five was a girl here, they'd be keeping a close eye on her. It was going to be alright. It had to be.

Marina wished that Six hadn't read the book. But in a way, it was better that she had. Now Ella and Marina didn't have to bear the weight alone. But she didn't want Eight to read it. Not ever. And she didn't know how she was going to not act weird around him now. It was going to be hard. And he couldn't possibly know what she was so upset about. Or maybe he did. He was smart, and he might already suspect. She shouldn't have freaked out maybe. But she couldn't help it. This world was different, what happened there didn't have to happen here. She nodded, sadly. She hoped that Six was right. They knew what to look out for. Maybe they should talk to Nine or something too. Then again, the less people who knew, probably the better. Marina hadn't liked the book much, and she didn't want that to be their futures. She wanted them to be okay. And she hoped they would, somehow. Six had more than just herself to think about now. Marina couldn't even imagine being pregnant. But they'd all be there for Six. She'd be okay."I don't know. I'm worried about her too. No matter what that book says, Ella is one of us." Marina shook her head, hugging her knees to her chest. It was an action she often took when faced with a difficult or scary situation. She felt like she was so out of practice. Adelina had not trained her like the other Cepans. She'd wanted to deny what they were. Even with all the training Marina had done here, she wasn't sure she'd catch up with the others. "I hope he never shows up here." Marina agreed. She wondered how she was ever supposed to face Eight again. Every time she thought about him, she saw him lying there, cold and dead. Tears were starting to form.
"We can stop this from happening here." Marina was confident of that, as she tried to banish the tears away. For one thing, they hadn't seen any Mogs. They might never see Mogs here, and that was highly preferable. She let go of her knees so she could stretch a bit. She didn't really know what they were going to do, but Five wasn't going to get the best of them. If he showed up here, they were going to be ready. "We will train harder, and more..." Some of them had gotten kind of lazy because they weren't in danger here, but clearly they shouldn't have done that."You're welcome." Marina told her. She'd have saved any of them. She just wished she could have saved Eight too. How were they supposed to keep this from him? She felt guilty about it already. And Six was right, Nine was not going to be happy if he found out about these things. She nodded, looking at her for a moment. Six shouldn't be doing as much in her condition, some of the others would have to. Abby didn't seem anything like Five, and sometimes people came from alternate realities here. It was possible that Abby was just fine."Yeah, we should definitely move." Marina agreed, standing up. "And what do we tell the others?" She didn't want Eight to know he died. That was horrible. "It's just a stupid book. It won't happen here." She said again, as if trying to reassure herself as well.
