There was that nagging feeling in the back of Jack's mind, however. Knowing that, once more, something would happen and he'd be pulled away from all this. He knew it was part of the deal, the proverbial debt to society that he owed given what Rose had inadvertently done to him. If he had the means to save the world, wasn't that what he was theoretically required to do?
Jack was, for once, fairly oblivious to the initial reaction to the quote. It would come back later, when he had time to think and when his head wasn't swimming with a scent he had missed for the past months. "Yes, you can," Jack replied, the corners of his mouth quivering as he fought to hold in a smile. "Because you happen to know several of my weaknesses and tend to exploit them from time to time." Particularly when Ianto spoke Welsh. Jack understood it, but the language sounded harsh with his accent. Under Ianto's tongue, it seemingly flowed.
"About as much as I missed your coffee. No one really comes close to understanding the meaning of 'strong'." Jack once spilled a bit on his desk and would never admit that it was strong enough to eat through a bit of unknown grime on a corner. "I am not dreadful. I am..." He trailed off, searching for the right word. "Punchy." Then again, part of that could have been due to those other bits of withdrawl they had spoken of. "And the citizens of New York are safe as you have every plan, I'm sure, to make sure my caffeine levels never fall below a certain point." Once more, Jack pulled Ianto flush against his body, reveling in the feel of it. "I am home," he murmured against Ianto's lips, that shiver of longing threading through his form once more. Cariad indeed. "I promise I will always come back. I love you. And that too is what matters."
